  New issues for Asia-Pacific human resources and new visions of southward development: 100 businessmen gathered at South Taiwan University of Science and Technology to be internationally linked.    2017/9/12    

 

"International Human Resources Exchange"—a forum on new issues concerning Asia-Pacific human resources and new visions of southward development jointly organized by South Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST), Tainan City Government Office, and Chinese Human Resources Management Association—was held at the International Conference Hall of STUST recently. Participating enterprises and companies included TSMC, Tainan Textile, Dongyang Industrial, Chi Mei Industrial, Unification Enterprise, Taiwan Sugar Company and Li Kang Biology Co., Ltd. High-level executives from these enterprises and companies related to technology, mass production, service industry and manufacturers, and hundreds of industry people came to learn about the latest trends of international developments.

In response to the vigorous development of enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region and the Government's promotion of the New Southward Policy, the International Human Resources Exchange held an agenda for participants to share and exchange views on the latest Asia-Pacific human resources issues. Invited speakers included representatives who participated in the 2017 Asia Pacific Federation of Asia-Pacific Federation of Human Resources Management (APFHRM) and the HR Summit 2017 in Singapore. They shared the most recent issues and trends in international human resources, including: "Intro to HR Metrics and Workforce Analytics" and "Designing and Impleting Mentoring Programme." They shared the latest human resources practices and the future trends of Asia-Pacific human resources for the Asia-Pacific enterprises. The forum was followed by a period of time for interaction and exchange for participants to further understand the programs and issues in the field of human resources and enhance their knowledge regarding business Human capital and key competencies.

Vice President Deng-Maw of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said that he was very grateful to the Labor Department of Tainan City Government and Chinese Human Resources Management Association for its support and encouragement and offering STUST the opportunity to hold such meaningful activities this year again. Talented personnel is the most important resource in the process of enterprise development. In the final analysis, the competition of the market is the competition of talented personnel. Therefore, they have become the potential advantage of the development of each enterprise. In recent years, the government has actively promoted the new south policy and pioneered the cooperation between the Southeast Asian countries and our countries. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has also made every effort arrange the Mayor and college representatives to visit Southeast Asia to send interns to Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and other countries for practice. STUST also set up training classes for Vietnamese overseas practice and a trip for Vietnamese Taiwan businessmen to visit Vietnam, trying to encourage young students to take challenges in Southeast Asia and enhance their self-competitiveness and self-improvement.

Director Shin-Gi Wang of Labor Development, on behalf of Tainan City Government and Mayor Ching-De Lai, thanked Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology for providing quality venues. He was glad to have the honor to cooperate with Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and the Association. Ever since Tainan City was promoted, the Department has been committed to promoting internal and external human capital. There have been fruitful and significant performances. The Department is not only the first local government to have imported TTQS in its vocational training, but also the one that has won the gold medal assessment of the highest level for 6 consecutive years. It broke the traditional framework of the public sector and created a different personnel development program that obtained the Ministry of Labor's first "National Talent Development Award" in 2015. With Its highlight on the promotion of personnel development in the public, the Department went to the United States to visit the world's largest human resources management organization—SHRM—and joined its international annual meeting, which indirectly facilitated the cooperation among the City Government of Tainan, Chinese Human Resources Management Association, and Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology.

In the era of knowledge economy, there is a great need of learning and innovation to propel enhancement of the quality of human resources. Human capital is the key to the competitiveness of businesses, governments, and countries. It is hoped that through the sharing, people can come together develop the personnel quality of businesses in Taiwan and increase the international competitiveness of enterprises.
