  Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Kokugakuin University and Kogakkan University in Japan jointly organized a grand opening for the "Chinese Learning Summer Camp.”    2017/9/13    

 

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Kokugakuin University and Kogakkan University in Japan jointly organized a grand opening for the "Chinese Learning Summer Camp.” This year a total of 13 students came to participate in the four-week program and experience the culture of Taiwan.

On behalf of all the teachers and students of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Vice President Deng-Maw Lu welcomed all the Japanese students. Vice President Lu said that Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Kokugakuin University are sister schools and have signed the tuition fee exchange agreement to facilitate teacher and students of the two schools to have frequent exchanges. From 2006 onwards, Kokugakuin University has been sending students to STUST each year to join the summer camp. There are also students of STUST going Kogakkan University for exchange and overseas study of Japanese and Japanese culture. STUST sincerely thanks the Kogakkan University for sending student to Taiwan for International exchange and thus beginning the cooperation between Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Kogakkan University on March 22, 2017, when Kogakkan University first went to STUST to discuss the summer Chinese camp, academic exchange and other matters. This year, two students were invited to attend the summer Chinese study camp. It is hoped that there will be more students in the future to come to Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology to study Chinese.

Vice President Lu also encouraged all the students to learn Chinese, learn more about Taiwanese culture, experience Taiwanese food, communicate with Taiwanese people and feel the enthusiasm of Taiwanese people. In particular, Tainan is the ancient capital of Taiwan, where all the historical and cultural heritages, traditional architecture, art and specialty food are worth experiencing by the heart.

In addition to the Chinese language courses, which enhanced the students' ability to read and write Chinese and understand the characteristics of Taiwanese characters, STUST also arranged a wealth of cultural courses, including Hakka blue dye, Facebook practice, aboriginal dances, martial arts, Taiwan cuisine, etc., so as to make students fully experience the culture of Taiwan and aboriginal culture. The student could also bring back to Japan the works they created in classes. During the period, STUST also arranged cultural and intellectual trips, so as to make students experience the beauty of Taiwanese culture. It is hoped that through such diverse courses and experiences, they could feel the beauty of Taiwan and come to understand that our Formosa is an island full of natural beauty and strong human touch.
