"Wandering the Universe - The 20th Department Exhibition and Youth Cup Design Award of the Department of Visual Communication Design, College of Digital Design, STUST, was grandly exhibited at the Humanities and Arts Building (Building M), STUST, from April 23 to 25. This event invited Vice President Zhen-chian Wang, Academic Dean Shu-zhen Zheng, and Dean Bing-zhang Chen of the College of Digital Design, and department chairpersons of the College of STUST. Also invited were Chairman Zheng-shian Sun of the Kaohsiung Cultural Design Development Association, Executive Director Jing-hui Wang of Zihui Design Co., Ltd., and Aesthetics Director Ting-yao Hu of Baishui Design Co., Ltd., Animator Wei-zhu Hong, and Director Sheng-he Sun of the National Tainan Business and Broadcasting Department attended the meeting, as well as the distinguished guests. The grand opening was sponsored by Wei Deli Enterprise Company and Tongyi Glass Company.

The concept of "Wandering the Universe" in this exhibition was originated from students' ideas. There could be infinite development possibilities in the future, just like the vast universe waiting for everyone to explore and design. Wandering the Universe presented the idea of people slowly exploring the future world as the main axis, creating a stage where students could freely display their talents, skills and inner expression.

The design awards covered five major categories: graphic design, digital media, three-dimensional and packaging display design, special planning, and painting images. Students were encouraged to show their proud achievements and talents and develop unlimited possibilities for creative design majors. This year, there were more categories for the competition, including AI Generated Concept Creativity Award, to encourage participants to apply more diverse conceptual models and use AI as a tool to display more diverse creativity. This also helped participants to understand the innovative thinking and technology brought about by the flexible use of new technologies and artificial intelligence technologies, further creating more design-related creative concept works.

The works on display were all students who used what they had learned in school and personal research to convey story concepts, thoughts and feelings to express their own values through creative design and artistic elements, with different perspectives on the world through their design. The Chingzhu Cup Design Award invited industry experts and professional teachers from the department to select gold, silver, bronze, and excellent works for various design awards, as well as the most anticipated Best Design Award of the Year. Design exists because of people and art comes alive because of people. Through this "Wandering the Universe" exhibition of the Department of Visual Communication, School of Digital Design, we hoped to bring infinite imaginative resonance and inspiration to viewers, so that they could not only break free from rules and frameworks but also discover much brilliance and beauty in life.
