New southward bound talent Cultivation: Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology opened overseas training courses in Vietnam.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has worked in the Southeast Asian countries for five consecutive years, sending interns to Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and other countries. In response to the new policy of the government, this year, Vietnamese overseas internship training classes and Vietnamese businessmen visiting group have been set up. After completing the Vietnamese culture and language courses training and passing the Vietnamese interview, the Director Ding-Hung Chen of the Development and Alumni Center Led 22 students from the College of Engineering, the College of Business, and the Faculty of Humanities to visit Vietnam.

The tour of Vietnamese businessmen group visited China Steel, Wei Dan, Jin Li Group, Feng Ming Group, Shie Yang Wood, Meicheng Resort, Zhong An Technology, Chiao Nan, Chang Yong, and Ho Chi Minh Taipei School , Which covers steel, food, shoe materials, bicycle cushion, furniture, tape, all kinds of ball making, and other types of business. Attendant Chung-Chiu Chuang, a junior student from the Department of International Business, said that there was a great difference between imagination and reality once she visited Vietnam. There is not much difference between Taiwan and Vietnam, whether it is the local city or religious culture; even some Vietnamese words are very similar to Chinese. She also felt that Taiwan businessmen take employees as an important asset; they provide their staff members with spacious, safe working environment. All these left to her deep impression and admiration. She also expressed gratitude to the school for providing her training courses and the opportunity to know that Vietnam employment could be one of her future work options.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Chinglu Footwear Industry, a Taiwan company in Vietnam, has had cooperation in internship for two times, where seven interns were retained after graduation. For the first time this year, training courses and field visits were organized to expand and strengthen the links between Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Vietnamese Taiwan businessmen. In the following years, there would be jointly selected interns going to Vietnam and one-stop new southward development. For both students and enterprises, this should create a win-win situation. The visit of Taiwan businessmen this time reminded students that English ability will be one of the important capacity indicators in the multi-national cadre working environment. Director Ding-Hung Chen said that Vietnam-born STUST alumni have been greatly favored in Taiwan businesses there. They are not only proficient in Chinese and English but also greatly savvy in Taiwanese culture. This has made them able to offer great help to their companies. STUST will continue playing its role as a matchmaker between Taiwan businessmen and Vietnamese alumni in term of employment. In the future, they also look forward to working with Vietnamese alumni to expand internships and employment opportunities.
