President Chien Tai of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology went north to take over CRC Corporation, Taiwan; Deng-Maw Lu was appointed Acting President before the staff bid farewell.

President Chien Tai of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology went North to take over CRC Corporation, Taiwan. On the morning of November 6, under the supervision of Chairman Hsin-Hsiong Chang, the seal was handed over to Prof. Deng-Maw Lu as he would be the Acting President to lead Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology to make great progresses for a better future. President Tai said in his choking speech that he thanked all the faculties and staffers for their support. He promised he would certainly continue to work hard in the future and live up to the trust of everyone.

President Chien Tai said that since August 1996, when he took the post of president, it has been 10 years and 3 months. He was grateful to the full authority and support of Late Chairman Gao, Chairman Chang and all the directors and supervisors. He made STUST able to receive as much grant as NT$ 1.3 billion from the Ministry of Education and take lead of privately-owned universities of science and technology. In response to financial problems, he adopted multi-layout strategy, such as starting derivatives, running Tainan Cultural and Creative Industrial Park, and the Incubation Center of Ministry of Economic Affairs Southern. Without the efforts of all the faculties and staffers, all these achievements would not have been there today. He said he was indebted to everyone.

On the morning of November 6, STUST organized an farewell party for President Tai. About 300 school staff and students came to give him blessings, including Chairman Wen-Long Chen of STUST Alumni Association, Chairman Ming-Chi Wu of Tainan Alumni Association, Chairman Jian-Chao Huang of Kaohsiung Alumni Association, and many others. At the same time, the school also presented him a glass plate symbolizing victory. In addition to paying homage to President Tai's contribution to STUST, they also wished the president a prosperous future.

President Dai Qian thanked Chairman Hsin-Hsiong Chang for his accomplishment and Acting President Deng-Maw Lu for his willingness to undertake this difficult job. He said that since there are still many efforts to be made to realize our vision and reach our goals, all the staff here should be united together. He believed that under the leadership of Acting President Deng-Maw Lu, STUST would continue to move forward and higher in the future.

Chairman Chang said that President Tai had made tremendous contributions to STUST. Once again he showed his gratitude to President Tai for his dedication to STUST. As he was to be the president of CPC Corporation, Taiwan, it was a great for him to leave. Faculties and teachers should not be sad. Acting Principal Deng-Mau Lu said that in the future he would continue to work on the development of the school affairs, hoping that the results would be eye-catching and there would be a happy campus for learning.

President Tai took a group photo with the administrative team before he left. He also shook hands with every one of the faculty and staff. Each office also made a variety of farewell posters and gave flowers to President Dai. They hoped that he could sail smoothly after going northward.
