Department of Popular Music Industry, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, held its "Made in DPMI” music festival in the evening of January 3. It was held on the grassland before San-Lian Stadium of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. The music festival was hosted by the second student of Department of Popular Music Industry, making five hours of non-stop music into a feast, so that the chill of Tainan in the New Year can be driven out of this winter.

The performance is led by the band of the Department of Popular Music, which presented the results they accumulated during their weekday practice to the general public. It also invited three well-known bands in South Taiwan--"Enigmen," "Iron Strikers," and "Obvious Bands"—to the show, performing and creating the unique music festival in a style that belongs only to the Department of Popular Music Industry.

The theme of "Made in DPMI” music festival is therefore the activity produced by "Popular Musicians." It is also the production of the second-year students of the Department of Popular Music Industry, developing from zero to full production according to the industry standard. The Department of Popular Music Industry encompasses different groups: audio-visual technology and stage production group students take control of behind-the-scenes lighting; stage design and stage structures took charge of sound configuration and live sound control; performing arts brokerage group students provide activities planning, image design, visual communication, marketing techniques and the implementation of the final publicity. Each student was the gear of this event; they worked closely with each other to promote the entire activity in its making.

"Made in DPMI” music festival not only promoted bands of the new generations in Taiwan, but also brought a variety of musical genres to the public. The general public can also see the professional coordination and co-operation of the front and back of the band. This music festival was a long-term project that allowed fans who love independent bands to have the opportunity to participate in and enjoy the music every year. It also created the opportunity for music lovers to meet more independent bands and songs and to prove students considerable professional ability to prop up large-scale activities and make the activities of a planned continuation.

As Acting President Deng-Maw Lu of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said, the event has been planned for nearly a semester, and with all the initial prototype design, the preparation of the planning proposal, and the final publicity, the students had learned that it is not so easy to make a successful event. They also learned that they won’t be disappointed with themselves as long as they work hard. In such a cold winter, it was fun to invite the audience to come; as long as audiences have the enthusiasm for participation, students will feel very pleased and honored. One of the students was greatly touched, saying, "As long as there is one more person to see the fruits of our hardworking, our pleasure and gratitude are beyond description. It is not vanity, but a heart that is satisfied.”

The students expressed their gratitude to Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology for providing the venues and energetic support. In addition, they also thanked the help of the Incubation Center for the smooth and continuous activities. The "Made in DPMI” music festival aims to bring up the tide of music in this area of Taiwan and let more people know the existence of the Department of Popular Music Industry in Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. It hopes to impress everyone in the heart of the South in the future, leaving in their hearts an unforgettable "Made in DPMI”!
