1.“Write Aid Similarity Scanner (hereinafter referred to as WASS)” is a system co-developed by the Ministry of Education, the National Library, and the National Taiwan Normal University. The system hasn’t been public yet but is in its trial stage. STUST (a total of 21 universities) participates in this year's trial run. From 17 June 2024 to 31 July 2024, Graduate School students who are taking their degree exams this semester should use WASS to check their theses/dissertations. 2. Graduate School students who passed their degree exams on or after 17 June 2024 should check their theses/dissertations with WASS and obtain comparison reports. Advisors can refer to the comparison report to revise and finalize the theses/dissertations. 3. Please note that before the thesis/dissertation submission to STUST Theses&Dissertation System, your thesis/dissertation should be checked by WASS and reviewed and approved by your advisor first. 4. Each Graduate School student is required to check the finalized thesis/dissertation with Turnitin. Those who passed their degree exams on or after 17 June 2024 should additionally check their theses/dissertations with WASS and upload the comparison reports to the FlipClass. ●Notes for File Upload to WASS 1) Limited comparison attempts: 5 (after 3 attempts, you’ll have to wait 24 hours to re-submit the file). Please use the attempts carefully. (This is the policy of the National Library) 2) The file uploaded should include the cover, abstract, table of contents, body of the paper, and references. Incomplete manuscripts or inconsistency between the titles listed in the table of contents and those in the body of the paper may lead to the failure of the comparison. 3) The purpose of the comparison is for students to self-check their theses/dissertations. In order NOT to violate academic ethics and affect the university's research culture, students should not use improper means to technically circumvent the thesis comparison. WASS is limited to the use of Graduate School students who are to carry on their degree exam (oral defense) in the current semester. Please do not submit manuscripts of other people. Violators’ accounts will be suspended by the National Library. 4) If you have any questions using WASS, please contact Ms. Liu at STUST Library. (Tel: 06-2533131 Ext. 2501; Email: paris@stust.edu.tw) 5) If you have any questions uploading the Turnitin Report and WASS Report to FlipClass, please contact Bonnie at the Registry Division of the Office of Academic Affairs.
