Achievement Exhibition─”Cutting Wrong": Visual Communication Design Department has done a great job in
competitions and performances, supported by its in-campus achievement exhibition with great intention

Visual Communication Design Department, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST) launched its 10th Achievement Exhibition on March 18. Visual Communication Design Contest has been performing better and better in competitions and academia-industrial cooperation, depending on the rigor of the demanding learning process it sets up to review the outcomes of students’ learning in every stage. In their sophomore year, each and every student of the department has to bring his or her learning outcomes to the exhibition. “Cutting Wrong” is the guiding concept of the exhibition this year, signifying that every work is like a piece of jade and therefore must be put through pondering and quenching before it shows its dazzling brilliance. A total of 335 works are shown in the exhibition, which encompasses five main categories—graphic design, creative painting, three-dimensional interactive design, animated storyboard, and identification system. Among them, the identification system category is especially worth mentioning. Under the direction of Ayu Shen, every work comes in accordance with professional design standards.

Another area also worth mentioning is three-dimensional interactive design, directed by Prof. Chen-Yi Huang. Based on the concept drawn from the most popular desktop games, the area allows students to turn themselves from players to game designers, put themselves through their creative curriculum, and train themselves to think in a comprehensive manner. All the game logic, character interaction, scenario setup, and thematic products come together into every game as the crystallization of the teamwork efforts of teachers and students.
