In addition, "An Upgrade Fermentation Lemon Polyphenol Content," developed and patented by Prof. Chi-Jan Chen and Chun-Yi Li, CEO of Jianmao Biotech, won a silver medal. Currently Jianmao Biotech has developed it into the sugar-free "New Energy" lemon polyphenols, “NO.1 Harmonic” healthy drink, and lemon polyphenol throat lozenges. All these are products with their distinctive characteristics to bring Taiwan's lemons into international markets with its specific brands.

The recent years have seen the heyday of academic research in STUST. Fruitful cooperation comes as a result of strong research teams working together with government agencies, science research institutes, and hi-tech industries. The industry-university cooperation, which STUST has been promoting so as to bring in thematic programs and research plans, has converted those programs and plans into a number of opportunities for creative invention. These university-industry cooperation and technology transfers have brought together 238 patents, nearly 60 research results, achievements in various industries, and winners of competitions in invention exhibitions at home and abroad. A number of publications based on all these fruitful results have been given as free gifts to help people and companies create opportunities for industrial innovation.
