A win-win situation: Biotech health products to be the result of the research and development of a cross-strait Academic-Industrial Cooperation on fruit enzymes
between Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Baoji Biotech Company in Shaanxi Province, China

President Lay-Jun Ma of Baoji Biotech in Shaanxi Province, China came to visit Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology on November 17. Led by President Qian Tai, all the officials of STUST witnessed the beginning of a cross-strait Academic-Industrial Cooperation between STUST and the company from China—a 1.15 million NTD contract signed by Yi-Peng Chen, Assistant Professor of Department of Biotechnology and President Ma. This purpose of this cooperation is to help Baoji Biotech develop health products with juice enzymes.

To expand its overseas cooperation and enhance its competitiveness, STUST has been actively promoting international cooperation in production. The multi-academia cooperation and mutual assistance and resource integration emphasize both practical industry cooperation theory and the future that can allow students to have more opportunities to enter the international markets of trade and industry.

Baoji Biotech was Founded in 1993 as a leading company in Shaanxi Province, China, with production management system HACCP as its core. The DCB Center at STUST focuses on production core technology, powered by its fermentation pilot production and production technology platform in the healthcare biotechnology product development. It provides technical advisory services and counseling plans, plays the role of cloud technology to support the biotechnology industry and mass production factories, offers pilot production plant process and equipment and services, and reduce the capital for manufacturers in spending and planning. It also plans on the transition from school-run center to derivatives business and develops biotech- related industry resources to provide integrated services.
