Award in the 2014 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Plan sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology

The 2014 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Plan sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology gathered approximately 300 teams and entities offering the students relevant training and sponsorship. Prof. Yun-Hui Liu from Mechanical Engineering Department and Prof. Shue-Lan Yang from Business Administration Department led their students—Hong-En Shai, Jing-Yu Luo, Guan-Yu Chen, Ting-Wei Huang and others, who are running Gauya Co. Ltd"—to win the Entrepreneurial Potential Award by their invention "Sky-Hook Damper Active Vibration Isolation System."

The invention of "Sky-Hook Damper Active Vibration Isolation System" was motivated by the fact that the development of precision instruments and equipment have lagged behind others despite the bright performances of domestic semiconductor and panel industries. If Taiwan can develop its own active vibration isolation technology, it will greatly enhance the isolation capability of the domestic precision measuring instruments and process equipment, thereby significantly reducing the cost of imports related to equipment manufacturers in Taiwan. This is a critical time for Taiwan to fortify its performance in vibration control.

"Sky-Hook Damper Active Vibration Isolation System" is the first active vibration isolation system with its own key technologies and commercialization system. It works without any problem of low frequency resonance; it also comes with excellent vibration isolation performance. Given that the current advanced process equipment and testing instruments are very sensitive to vibrations in working environments, especially the small objects of various industries in their production, operation, and testing. The patented technology of this R & D team, with its power of innovation, has been working to improve the vibration isolation performance of precision industry and meet the market demand ultra-precision vibration isolation equipment..
