The Department of Information Management,Southern Taiwan University of Science and
Technology,was awarded the third prize in the E-Commerce Service Innovation Category of the 2014 Start-Up Taiwan National Innovation Entrepreneurship Competition.

The 2014 Start-up Taiwan National Innovation Entrepreneurship Competition was jointly organized by the Chaoyang University of Technology, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, and Guangya School Foundation Yu Da University.Through the intense final competition on November 24 at Chaoyang University of Technology, The Department of Information Management, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, outdistanced most of the 95 teams from 25 colleges and universities and won the 3rd place in the E-Commerce Service Innovation Category ofthe 2014 Start-Up Taiwan National Innovation Entrepreneurship Competition.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology had a total of 10 teams join the competition, including Wedding Planner team, formed and directed by Prof. Chi-Hoa Chang of the Department of Information Management instructor and 4studentmembers, including Jin-Kai Guo, Ru-yi Chen, Wei-Chi Chen, and Ji-In Lin. Given only 19 days to prepare for the final, all the participating students made their best efforts in preparing for the final materials. Finally, the group won the judges’favor and won the 3rd prize in E-Commerce Service Innovation Category.

The purpose of the 2014 Start-Up Taiwan National Innovation Entrepreneurship Competition was to enhance the ability of the domestic college student to run after innovation and entrepreneurship, teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit, and a combination of real life experience and academic theory learned at school. From the competition, participating students came to realize the need of combining practice and innovation. They also learned that innovation comes with more practical experience and considerable enthusiasm than just a simple theory with great rhetoric.
