Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology in response to Hunger on the Run: teachers and students donated one-day meal expenses In response to the 26th Hunger on the Run activity held by World Vision Taiwan, the student life consultant divisionof the Academic Affairs Department and Fundamental Services student society from Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology organized a community welfare activity starting from 12:00, November 19 to 18:00 November 20—for participants to experience hunger for 30 hours. As the 20th of November coincidedwith World Children's Day, teachers and students donatedtheir meal expenses for the day ($100 NTD for each), enthusiastically participatingthe hunger experiencing activity.The event responded to the donation activity with nearly $30,000 NTD, to the Tainan office of World Vision Taiwan. 【Deputy President of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology presented a $30,000 NTD check to World Vision Tainan District Commissioner Su –Jin Yang】【The cheerleaders danced to the opening of the Hunger on the Run activity held at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology】【Children at the affiliated kindergarten of STUST sang to the Hunger on the Run activity】 Teachers and students participating in the activity still followed their regular routines of life, school and work; they ate solid food, drink milk, soy milk, milk tea, and other liquid food supplement to support their physical experience. After the event, they were given aEnglish World Vision Taiwan certificate, while the school also provide them with meals to feedtheir hungry and add to their strength.It is hoped that they can continue their participation every year, thereby moving more students and teachers to join the activity. With their certificates, teachers and students were given free registration with the "General Assembly of Hunger-fighting Warriors" to be held at the Kaohsiung World Games Stadium on February 7 and 8, 2015. 52 STUST students, so full of vitality and enthusiasm, have volunteered to work as a team leader for the coming activity. 【Grand gathering of participants in the 2014 Hunger on the Run activity at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology】
