Nian-Tzi Chen (Department of Electrical Engineering) and Hun-Chi Chen (Department of Mechanical Engineering) from Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technologywere awarded the "Technical and Vocational Excellence Award - Patent Creator" and "Technical and Vocational Excellence Award - other outstanding deeds"at the 10th Technical and Vocational Excellence Award bythe Ministry of Education

The research with which Nian-Tzi Chen is involved has created eight patents, while the R & D team that Hun-Chi Chan works with has already been successfullytransferred its results to authorized industries for maximum profits andbenefits of university-industry cooperation. After enteringSTUST with a favorable record at high school, Nian-Tzi Chen has been under the guidance of Prof. Chao-Hung Wei, participating in the design and experiment of the various software and hardware circuits and systems and serving as an assistant to the Ministry of Science Research Program at STUST. His individual achievements include winning the 100,000 NTD school scholarship, maintaining on top during his stay at STUST, and winningfor two consecutive years the MOE grant of "Science and Technology College Student Thematic Project program.” In practice, Chen hascreated eight patents and has won a great number of awards in various competitions at home and abroad, including7 golds, 5 silvers and 2 bronzesin the International Exhibition of Inventions.

Hun-Chi Chen has been studying at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, STUST, ever since his undergraduate years. During his graduate study here, Chen has been under the guidance of Professor Chi-Liang Chu and has won a great number of prizes, including the first place in the 2012 Chen-Tai Project competition of Technical Presentation of Precision Instrument, the Special Award in the Ninth Song-Ying Contest of Thesis on Science and Technology Mechanical Tools and Components, the Best Thesis Award in the 20th National Conference on Automation Technology, the first place in the 102 Annual National Student Project on Molding, a gold medal in the 41st Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, the Platinum Award in the 2013 Taipei International invention Show & Technology Trade Show, a gold medal in the 66th international Exhibition of Inventions in Nuremberg. It should be noted that his research team also successfully authorized the transfer of their technological achievements to related industries, which have been recognized and honored for bringing industry-university cooperation to maximum efficiency.
