2014 National Interdisciplinary Competition of Intelligent Electronic Devices:
Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the championship

A laboratory team from the Electronic Engineering Department, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won the 2014 National Interdisciplinary Competition of Intelligent Electronic Devices, organized by the Electronic Design Consortium of Intelligent Electronic Center, an agency of the Department of Information and Technology Education, the Ministry of Education,. The team was formed by junior students—Wei-Hao Hong, Shi-Ming Hu, and Lain-Shen Chen—outdistanced other 16 teams in the “Interdisciplinary Information and Intelligent Electronics B College Group.”

As Wei-Hao Hong, Shi-Ming Hu, and Lain-Shen Chen pointed out, their invention adds to the traditional sensory devices with a tool to enhance SMS alarm notification features. The tool can be installed in the terminal without removing the existing system, thereby reducing installation costs and working hours and saving huge expenses. Combing Bluetooth with Arduino, it send SMS to the user himself at the first moment via the APP software; it can also be set to automatically send group SMS at the first moment notice friends nearby. With this, the user can enhance safety and reduce the loss of property at home.
