Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the second place in the 2014 National EMICE
Proposal Competition

To help talented personnel develop their English proficiency and expertise required by domestic exhibition, Chinese Meeting and Exhibition Association and I-Shou University organized the 2014 National EMICE Proposal Competition. Under the guidance of Prof. Mei-Chin Chu from the Department of International Business, French students Joanna Pereira, Alexandre Geffard, and Oussema Sleimi, who are now studying in the GMBA program of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, formed a team called “Silver Bow Challenge.” The team won the second place, showing the strength of STUST in business planning, briefing, and presentation.

As the 2014 National EMICE Proposal Competition took “World Traditional Archery Carnivals” as its theme, participating teams must choose a city as the host and design a brief proposal accordingly. To be the host for the event, each team had to make members support its proposal the event; each team needed present its proposal in English and take questions from judges from the UK, Ireland and Germany. Participants came from colleges and universities all over Taiwan, with a total of more than 140 students in the competition. Unlike previous ones, this time participants included not only local Taiwan students but also foreign students from France, Haiti, El Salvador, Indonesia, Vietnam, Mainland China, and other countries. The GMBA students from Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology chose Puy du Fou, a great attraction with traditional cultural characteristics in Vendee, French, as the place for them to organize the carnival. In addition to their introduction of the traditional culture and characteristics of the city, the team created a complete plan for their activities, with great marketing strategies and financial planning. While their design was so creative and lively, the content of their proposal impressed the judges. The defeated most of the other 20 teams and finally won the second place in the competition.
