Vocational College Group of the 2014 National Vocational High School and Vocational College Children Aesthetic Activity Design Competition

In the 2014 National Vocational High School and Vocational College Children Aesthetic Activity Design Competition, organized by the Ministry of Education, the team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the second place in Vocational College Group. The team, formed by 4 students and directed by Prof. Chi-Jane Tsai from the Department of Child Care, brought forth their teaching plan as "Circus: Clowns in the Picture."

The team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology Department used "Circus: Clowns in the Picture" as their theme. The design concept is based on the fact that viewing circus activities is one of most desirable activities for children, especially the heart and soul of the show--clowns, who can bring them great joy. The team expected to achieve such courses targets as "exploration and awareness," "performance and creation," and "respond with appreciation.

The design of teaching activities based on the theme of "Circus: Clowns in the Picture" was chosen from a number of competitors and allowed to enter the second round of the competition and teaching demonstration. During the demonstration, the use of creative teaching techniques, combined with the visual arts appreciation, theater plays, diversified activities musical rhythm, use of exquisitely textbooks, teaching aids, etc., led children into a feast of beauty. As a result, their teaching demonstration won the favor of all the judges and was awarded the second prize in the group.
