Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the title "Enterprises’ favorite college students” for the 7th consecutive year, announced by the Cheers Magazine in its latest 2015 rankings of private colleges and universities. It is also ranked the 8th among the TOP20 colleges and universities in Taiwan.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has been awarded for consecutive years "Exemplary University of Science and Technology" grants by the Ministry of Education totaling 337 million NT dollars, and "Teaching Excellence Program" grants totaling 684 million NT dollars. Along with excellent performances, industry-academia cooperation, National Science Council projects, the central government plans, and industry cooperation and technical transfer have all shown significant growth. Over the years, STUST’s teaching excellence plans and student competitions have seen a sharply growing number, creating a top-notch status for STUST.
To enhance specific knowledge and ability on the side of teachers, STUST has been sending teachers to take practical training in industries since the year of 2012, which can strengthen teachers’ learning and has currently been 100% implemented. It will encourage the short, medium and long-term industry learning process and special classes, creating "instantly available" talent.

In 2014, in collaboration with TSMC semiconductor, Innolux and EpsonRobots, STUST succeeded in establishing the school of automation industry, meeting industries’ needs for cultivated talent and nurturing automation professionals in Taiwan.
In 2013, 26 students completed their internship, with 21 (80%) retained in their positions after graduation. Metal centers and aerospace industry manufacturers thus began to cooperate with the Southern District Vocational Technical College Institute, establishing a tripartite "inter-school cross-industry" with industry, academia, and training to cultivate talent for aerospace certification.
Businesses and STUST began worked together in running a specifically structured laboratory for breeding professionals, which obtained grants from Innolux, Epson Robots, Tianjin Steel, Terasic, Siemens, Renesas, Altera, Fruit Movies, Hang Jia Teng and many other hardware and software companies, totaling 210 million NT dollars. Practical internships were thus facilitated to provide students with high-quality environment.
The Ancient mechanical cultural and creative development team, led by Professor Tsun-Yi Lin of Mechanical Engineering Department, has integrated engineering, design, digital technology and communication technology into a whole and extended ancient mechanical knowledge into the realm of digital media, science education, and cultural and creative product design. The fruitful results can be used in public art exhibits, cultural and creative Goods, teaching aids, and other fields.
The biotech R & D center, directed by Prof. Chun-Sheng Chang, Chairman of the Department of Biotechnology, has integrated schools R & D personnel and invested nearly 0.1 billion dollars in acquisition of analytical instruments and test production equipment, application of biotechnology and the two core technologies--health care products and protein quality products--to provide the biotechnology industry bases for integration of resources and services and help more than 80 manufacturers.

In order to create an international campus environment, STUST established International School in the 2013 to operate the 5 strongly recommended (by the MOE) All-English programs, including Electrical and Mechanical Technology, Electrical Engineering, and International Business Administration GMBA programs and Electrical Technology and Electrical engineering doctorate programs. This was added by the Management PhD program established in the same year, which would recruit only international students to foster international talents.

In 2014, STUST established its Joint Innovation and Incubation Center, with its interior space containing high-bred breeding IQ Space to provide young people in general or inter-school entrepreneurial teams with comprehensive counseling. Up to January 2015, there have been 23 companies stationed in the campus, at a rate of 61%. Stationed vendors focus on cultural and creative industries, biotechnology, ICT, and multimedia design.
STUST has had great performances in assessments for Teaching Excellence Programs and exemplary university of science and technology Plans by the Ministry of Education. It has been the leader of all the private vocational and technological universities in Taiwan and has even outdistanced some national universities of science and technology
