Experiencing Puppetry and A Visit to Chi Mei Museum: Southern Taiwan University of
Science and Technology University led representatives of Hakuoh University, Japan to experience Taiwanese culture

In order promote international academic exchanges, a group of 23 teachers and students from Hakuoh University, Japan, led by Professor Takahashi of Management Development Institute, visited Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Students from both universities were asked to present their reports either in Chinese or in Japanese, sharing their ideas about international exchange. STUST also organized puppetry shows and a visit to Chi Mei Museum, so the students could enhance their mutual understanding and languages exchanges. Through this exchange, students form both universities had a better understanding of each other as well as an extensive exchanges.

The two universities signed a sister school agreement in 2003. Through student exchanges, visits of researchers and scholars, summer study groups, intensive programs and many other ways, the two universities have been diversely and passionately engaged with each other in exchanges. While STUST has sent 42 students to Hakuoh University, 18 students from Hakuoh University have been to STUST for short-term intensive programs and 30 students have ever came to STUST to participate in Chinese Culture Camp. As Dean De-Guang Chou pointed out in his speech, among the 128 sister schools of STUST— 30 of them are in Japan—Hakuoh University is the one with the most profound friendship with STUST.

In addition, ever since 2005, Hakuoh University has been undertaking activities for the overseas travel and leisure group for the EMBA Management College of STUST. Over the past 10 years, a total of more than 250 students have participated in the visit. The trip this time was planned by the Department of Leisure, Recreation, and Tourism Management to encourage more student exchanges among the two sister universities.
