Learning Without Borders: To create an international friendly environment to study
in Taiwan, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology organized a freshmen training camp for international students

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology organized an international student training camp before international freshman students began their first year. They came from Germany, Austria, Croatia, Japan, Mongolia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Russia, France, Gambia, and Thailand, a total of 27 international students coming here in pursuit of a degree at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology or to learn Chinese. Together with the freshmen students this year, more than 260 international students are currently studying at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, which thus seems to have become a small global village.

President Tai express his hearty welcome at the opening ceremony of training camp for international students and encourage them not only to enrich their professional knowledge and ability but also to learn more in-depth experience of Chinese and Taiwanese culture. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has been committed to fostering international talent in recent years, with excellent faculty with bilingual teaching ability and GMBA master classes, electrical, mechanical and other large doctoral program taught entirely in English. This year has seen the expansion to eight programs in total for International students taught entirely in English.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has long been offering a plan for diversified Chinese courses taught at the school for international students with basic Chinese communication skills to adapt to their lives in Taiwan. In life, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology also plans for international students a comprehensive care package of measures. The host family system and the study partner system have both helped a lot of international students adjust to their lives here and obtain a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture. Meanwhile, hostels are also provided with a simple kitchen, so that international students can be home cooking food to relieve the pain of homesickness. In order to attract foreign students, special care has been done to show religious respect in school dormitory settings; for example, a praying room is set to for students coming from areas where people believe in Muslim.
