Study and work in vacation: Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology
hosted The 2015 Spring Exhibition of Education and Studying in Japan a number of schools in Japan.
The 2015 Spring Exhibition of Education and Studying in Japan was held a few days ago at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, organized by the Department of Applied Japanese and sponsored by Taiwan-Japan Exchange Association. 10 universities, specialized schools, and language schools participated in the exhibition and offered the latest information related to studying in Japan. The venue was packed students interested in studying abroad at schools in Japan.

Over the past two decades, Taiwan-Japan Exchange Association has never stopped holding activities every year in the northern, central and southern regions of Taiwan, but in the southern region it has been only for Kaohsiung. Since the autumn of 2014, additional activities have been given to students in Tainan; yet, the venue has been mostly held in hotels. This year the Department of Applied Japanese, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, began to offers Tainan Japanese learners and STUST students information and opportunities about studying in Japan.

Director Morimoto of Japan Interchange Association was invited to have a speech about the working holiday Scheme of Japan. Since the opening of working holidays in Japan, the number of applicants has been rising, growing from 2,000 applicants to 5,000 a year. Yet, there are still a lot of applicants would be disappointed. It is obvious that working holiday in Japan is very attractive to young students.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has spared no effort in promoting the overseas internship in recent years, especially the Department of Applied Japanese, which recruits 20 students every year, through the Academic Dream plan of the Ministry of Education, and sends them to Japan for a short-term summer internship overseas. Thanks to the great performances of students and the recognition of internship agencies, the department signed a memorandum with several internship institutions of cooperation in December 2014 and January 2015, with which about 10 students will be able to go to Japan for internship every six months in the future. In addition to visa application, the internship agency will be responsible for outside internships and provide students with tickets to and from Japan, and even offer accommodation fees and incentive payments. For students of the Japanese department, this should not only enhance their learning of Japanese, but also offer sophisticated working experience in practice after they return to Taiwan for employment.
