Congratulations! Three plays by the Department of Information and Communication, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, were selected to the "11th
PTV Student Drama Show," granted a 1.8-million-NTD scholarship, and elevated to the same rank with those by departments of national universities.

Students from the Department of Information and Communication, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, participated in the 11th PTV Student Drama Exhibition. From among the hundreds of pieces of works in the intense competition, the three plays were all selected, and the team was granted 1.8 million NTD for Public Television and Film Foundation Scholarship. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology is the only winning team from a private university in South Taiwan. The remaining 12 works of art came from such public universities as Taipei University, National Taiwan University, and National Chengchi. It should be noted that the creative strength of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology should not be underestimated when it comes to filming and media production.

【"Eloquence" playwriting team from the Department of Information and Communication, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, was selected to the 11th PTV Student Drama Show.】

Three works written by students and directed by Prof. Lu-Ping Zheng and Prof. Chang-Hui Shiueh from the Department of Information and Communication— "Eloquence,” “Liars," and "Out in Transparency"—were elected to the 11th PTV Student Drama Show. "Liars" was written by 2.14 Creative Video Production Team to explore social chaos and human weakness with black humor. The play highlights its non-sensual comedian element and cheat-in-cheating plot. As the team leader Zi-Yu Chen said, it is the largest reward to be selected to the PTV Student Drama Show this times, which also serves as great encouragement for her creative work and for her continuing to write better works in the future. Another selected work "Eloquence" talks about problems and issues of sexism and oppression happening in the patriarchal system, serving as a great irony against current events and successfully drawing attention the related issues. It is created by Dicknotwork Video Production Team. Screenwriter Yuan-Huang Lin said that he sincerely hopes the community can be become a true and beautiful one and that by way of writing he wants to convey his feelings to the community to make more works recognized and resonated by the audience. On the other hand, "Out in Transparency," written by Partying Creative Video Production Team, anchors its focus on the homeless and dropouts, showing great concerns with the ignored in the surrounding communities and uncovering the untold story behind those nobodies.

All the three award-winning groups took multiple points of view in handling a great variety of social phenomena, thereby exploring certain potential social problems and showing the concerns and reflections of young contemporary with social issues. President Tai said that in recent years the PTV Student Drama Show has made great contributions to the industry by winning numerous awards, making many workers win such prizes as the Golden Horse Awards, and prompting a number of playwrights and directors to be engaged in their creative work.

In the opening ceremony Director Shiu-Ying Liu of Kaohsiung Film Archive said that she was glad that students down south could have such a dazzling performance, which fully shows their great efforts on film production and shooting. She added that it is a great start to be selected this time and that the teams are welcome to Kaohsiung for shooting.
