To provide multiple services to help manufacturers upgrade: Southern Taiwan
University of Science and Technology and Taiwan Biotech Industry Alliance worked together to promote industry-university collaboration.

Taiwan Biotech Industry Alliance held the 23rd General Assembly on March 26 in the International Conference Hall at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Taiwan Biotech Industry Alliance, founded in February 2010, aims to integrate of productive, academic and research resources, to strengthen Taiwan's biotech industry, and establish a complete support system, thereby strengthening the cooperation mechanism of science research and biotechnological manufacturers. It has now 70 member corporates, with 168 group members and 53 individual. Under the leadership of its president—President Tai Chien of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology—it keeps moving toward the goal of integrate various resources to help vendors upgrade while actively providing more diverse services to members of the alliance.

In view of food security problems that frequently happen, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology invited Pei-Ru Zhou, Chief Officer of the Food and Drug Agency of the Ministry of Health and Welfare to have a keynote presentation about safety laws and regulations related to biotech food. The presentation encompasses such topics as food management structure, market mechanism, ingot shaped capsule food inspection registration, health food inspection registration, etc. In addition, in response to the trend of e-commerce that has been gradually taken seriously, the General Assembly also invited Dr. Dong-Hao He from TMCT Development Company to talk about regulations on the cross-strait business and logistics, in order to provide members with a clearer picture on the relevant specifications.

On the day of the General Assembly the same day, the Research and Development Center, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, presented to members several plans, including "institutional human resources enhancement plan," "small business human resources enhancement plan," and many other government subsidy plans.

The Biotech Alliance has offered its members services related to "domestic and foreign exhibitions" and "government resources applications." The exhibitions include domestic biotechnology exhibitions in Taipei and Tainan, "Malaysia MIHAS" International Halal Exhibition in 2014, and "Shanghai NPC" China Health Food Show, with a total of 20 manufacturers in participation that placed orders worth more than 2,349 NTD. In 2015, members will be invited to such international exhibitions as "Malaysia MIHAS," "Shanghai FiA Exhibition," and many others.

Taiwan Biotech Alliance has established two websites: joint biotech detection platform and biotech industry market expanding sales platform. More resources platforms will be actively established for more future services to meet the demand of members. It will invite experts and academics to talk about key issues on markets, development, regulations, marketing, and many other aspects. There will also be seminars or forums to fortify the deep-rooted links between members and offer members long-term sustainable and thorough services.
