Top ten enterprises in hospitality came to work together at Southern Taiwan
University of Science and Technology to cultivate talent and elites in hospitality.

To strengthen students' ability in practice and cultivate competitive professionals in the hospitality sector, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology gathered high quality enterprises in hospitality to discuss the characteristics of hospitality businesses in Tainan areas, hoping to form an alliance of the top ten hospitality enterprises, discussing the local features and creating a cooperation program to foster talents.

Tourism and Hospitality haven both been taken as one of six key development features by the government. With the increase of tourists in Tainan area, personnel for accommodation and catering have received increasing attention. Elite Hospitality Alliance now features a personnel training that encompasses student internships, graduates recommendation, collaborative planning curriculum, teacher training, materials development, collaborative teaching, special training courses, selecting graduates, industry-academia cooperation, and the creation of special classes and flagship track. The hospitality industry in Taiwan is currently in its boom. It is believed that an increase of employability and competitiveness will come along with cultivating the characteristics of elites and talent and helping students acquire quality hospitality expertise.

The collaboration features the characteristics of hospitality and personnel training. Tayih Landis Hotel, for example, features emphasize nurturing public relations management talent. It offers to develop textbooks and other teaching activities of training PR management personnel in hospitality sector, which will be coordinated by Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Evergreen Hotel will begin its selection of personnel from among freshman students for future staff training. Through its arrangements, freshman and sophomore students can begin to work in its hotels. Hotel executives will come to support the teaching. Students joining the junior internship program will have the opportunity to become staffers after graduation. Gui Tian Hotel has expanded into Taitung market, emphasizing the administration's strategy of diversification, strengthen students' practical experience in hospitality, and give them lessons regarding management of diversification through cooperation.

Shu-Yi Huang, Chair of the Department of Hospitality Management, Southern Taiwan University of Science, pointed out that Elite Hospitality Alliance has showed rather enthusiastic participation in its featured talent-fostering cooperation. There are an graduate institute, four-year programs for both day and night, the track of special classes, and many other enrollments, with nearly 1,200 students. Along with its new equipment, the department has professional, quality teachers and brilliant learning environments in hospitality.
