Congratulations! Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the
“Best Young Designer of the Year for Excellent Design“ Award in the 34th Young Designers’ Exhibition

College of Digital Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won 7 awards in the country's largest design exhibition─the 2015 Young Designers’ Exhibition: "Best Young Designer of the Year for Design Excellence” in Packaging Design Category, "Young Designer Award” in the category of digital multimedia design and processing design, "Special Prize from Sponsors for Creativity Award" in Packaging Design Category and Digital Multimedia Design, "LimitStyle Good Life Design Award," and "Creative Office Furniture Award" in the category of product design, and other awards for their design strength and public recognition.

【College of Digital Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won 7 awards in the country's largest design exhibition─the 2015 Young Designers’ Exhibition.】

The 34th Design Exhibition this year was held in a larger scale, with a record high of 4,009 entries registered, a total of 702 works nominated for the final, 417 works selected for the best young design of the year, and 409 works selected by sponsors for special awards. The rate of finalists was only 12 percent. While Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology had 39 shortlisted entries, 7 works brought back a wonderful collection of awards, together with acclaims and praises from sponsors and visitors.

【The Department of Visual Communication, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the Best Young Designer of the Year for Excellent Design in Packing Design Category with “Master’s out for Herbs.”】

In the ceremony, the 7 most eye-catching works winning the Best Young Designer of the Year for Excellent Design, there was one by the team led by Prof. Chen-Yi Huang from the Department of Visual Communication, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology—“Master’s out for Herbs,” which won "Best Young Designer of the Year for Design Excellence” in Packaging Design Category. The work was created by Yu-Wei Zhang, Meng-Long Wu, Zi-Li Ni, Tong-Far Zheng, and Ting-Yao Hu for the "Ancient Pharmacy" of Tainan City as a new brand. With their innovativeness, marketability, and environmental protectiveness, the work was given a high rating in the final.

In addition, “Wooden Storage,” created by Si-Ting Huang, Zhe-Shan Lin, Ying-Fang Su, Jin-Mei Chang, Ying-Zhu Li, and Shi-Shian Wuan under the guidance of Prof. Huan-Yuan Chen from the Department of Visual Communication, won the "Special Prize from Sponsors for Creativity Award." "The Spiritual Father Returns," created by Lin-Chi Chen, Kai-Wei Tseng, Jia-Hong Lin, Yi-Lun Sun, and Jia-Yiou Tsai, won “Sponsor’s Special Prize for Creative Young Designer from Tainan" in Packaging Design Category.

【The Department of Innovative Product Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won "LimitStyle Good Life Design Award" with its innovative design "De-Oiling Plate."】

Meanwhile, another two winners of the Best Young Designers Award—“Hear Me” and “Shake It.” “Hear Me” was designed to help hearing-impaired students overcome barriers to communication so as to listen and speak naturally. "Shake It" was a chair designed to support the body by winding weave structure. With a metal ring to strengthen the seat, the rocking chair can monthly increase its plasticity.

In addition, “De- Oiling Plate" and "Magic Flower" both won the "Special Prize from Sponsors for Creativity Award" “De-Oil Plate” De-Oiling Plate" make great use of innovative folding work to turn a piece of plane paper into a three-dimensional tray, so as to lead extra oil into folds and thereby drain the oil. On the other hand, "Magic flower" employs the traditional structure of overturned paper bouquet and develops it into chairs and lighting products, with variations in shape, forces to support, reduction in volume, less transportation costs, and many other characteristics.
