Transnational cooperation: Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology
and Mie University will jointly participate in the 2015 Ene-1 GP SUZUKA.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Mie University in Japan, which are international sister school and have inter-school cooperation, will jointly participate in the 2015 Ene-1 GP SUZUKA this year in Suzuka, Japan. This stood for the cooperation between the two universities. The race cars will be assembled by the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mie University, while the vehicle testing and data analysis will be provided by Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Meanwhile, Taiwan Taroko group will be sponsoring body and vehicle parts. The competition will be held in August this year. To show the determination of the cross-border cooperation between Taiwan and Japan, Mie University and Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology yesterday (13), via the Internet, jointly organized a press conference for their transnational connections. Through cooperation with the Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology of Mie University, together with their partner Taiwan Taroko Group and Japan's Suzuka circuit, will keep to their development and enhance the cooperation between Taiwan and Japan's Mie Prefecture, hoping that their effort can be a precedent for the future.

In November 2014, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology became a sister school of Japan's Mie University, based on student exchanges and technology-based exchanges. The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, has had 20 year-long experience in the production of such vehicles as solar cars, Formula One racing car, fuel cell vehicles, environmental trams. The two schools decided to work together to make electric vehicles jointly and participate in the 2015 Ene-1 GP SUZUKA held in Mie Prefecture, Japan.

Limited to the long-distance of their cross-bordered relationship, the making of the race car were completed by way of discussions through video and networking. The racing cars were assembled by teachers and students of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mie University. Professor Wei-Jin Zhang and his two students—Wei-Shin Huang and Chun-Wei Lin—represented Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and joined the production team, providing analysis of vehicle testing and travel data and finish the race car by way of communication and cooperation.

President Tai stressed that it is our honor to be invited by Mie University for the joint team to participate in the 2015 Ene-1 GP SUZUKA. While this is the first time Vice President Nishimura of Mie University led their team to Taiwan, they had great interaction with the teachers and students from the Department of Mechanical Department and the International Affairs Office. The cooperation proved to very fruitful in just half a year, thanks to their collaborative efforts and the friendly relationship between Mie University and Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Mie University and Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology are partners and have created a great model of cooperation for the future. They will continue to promote exchanges between Taiwan and Japan.

Over the past few years, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has participated in all kinds of racing and has obtained dazzling results, such as the fifth place worldwide in Australia's World Solar Challenge (WSC), third place in the Formula One race in Japan and China, and other awards and prizes related to unique designs, marketing reports, and teamwork; STUST has also won the domestic Automatic Machine Engineering Society Award, which is held annually nationwide for college-designed super fuel-efficient car. Therefore, the outcome shows that students and teachers in the Department of Mechanical Engineering have made great efforts regarding vehicle engineering technology research and personnel training. Therefore, the cooperation between Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Mie University will jointly participate in the 2015 Ene-1 GP SUZUKA. Their cooperation will enable both to be more sophisticated in terms of their techniques and more qualified to get success in the future for all kinds of competitions.
