State Polytechnic of Malang, SPM, is a State University. It has nearly 8,000 students. The school has two colleges, offering a total of more than twenty profession academic programs: three-year professional diploma courses, four-year diploma programs, and master's degree programs. Its students focus on technical and vocational skills and professional applications. In recent year, State Polytechnic of Malang, SPM has planned new international learning processes taught in English, periodically sending lecturers to go abroad to have learning and training in the hope that there will be sophisticated teaching staff with a great amount of energy.

President of State Polytechnic of Malang, SPM, was very positive about the teaching quality and research and development of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. He hoped that the two universities could actively promote the mutual cooperation at a departmental level. In the meeting, the two schools had full discussion of cooperation issues and reached a certain degree of consensus concerning Indonesian instructor training program, short-term scholarly invitation to each other, and the two universities’ joint promotion in the field of engineering and business management in the future. The two schools would maintain close contact in the future and continue to promote international exchanges.

The delegation also visited the featured research centers and institutes, including the precision machinery center located in Building K, the nanotechnology center, optoelectronic semiconductor center, a vehicle V Building Dynamics Laboratory, and the digital library on the 12th floor of E Building, in which there are the Internet audio-visual area, children's reading room, film viewing room. The delegation was greatly impressed by the professional and top-tier equipment as well as the core technology for research and development. They gave words of praise and kept a deep impression with STUST.
