Cultural and creative renaissance in southern Taiwan: The Ministry of Culture and the Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology jointly the opening ceremony of Tainan Cultural and Creative Industrial Park.

Tainan Cultural and Creative Industrial Park,the only one of Taiwan's five major cultural and creative industrial parksorganized by a university, was openedon the 12th day of this month, officially handed over toSouthern Taiwan University of Science and Technology for its future management. Guests were invited, includingDeputy MinisterYu-Yun Chiu of the Ministry of Culture, Deputy Mayor Tsun-Chuo Yan of Tainan City Government, Chief Director Ze-Shan Yeh of the Bureau of Cultural Affairs,Tainan City Government, Director Ching-Siang Liao of Chi Mei Museum, Director Chen-Wei Lin of Southern Taiwan Science and Industrial Park, and leaders of
Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology—Director Li-Tang Chang, Director Chin-Chiung Chang, President Chien-Tai, and General Manager Yi-Fung Wang of Tainan Cultural and Creative Industrial Park. They poured the "wine of culture,” "wine of Tainan," "wine of art," " wine of talent," "wine of industry," "wine of creativity”and“wine of STUST" into the jug of “wine of blessing,” symbolizing the development of cultural and creative industry to be long lasting as it gets better and better and thus bring the kick-off of Tainan Cultural & Creative Industrial Park.

Deputy Minister Yu-Yun Chiuof the Ministry of Culture showed his thanks in his opening speechto the strong support of the Ministry of Education, Tainan City Government, and the board as well as all the teachers and students of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. He hoped that, with the future advantages and resources from the team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Tainan Cultural and Creative Industries Park can provide small-cap cultural and creative entrepreneurs with the desired resources they need. It is highly hoped that can become an important base for cultural and creative talent and thereby nurture the industry.

Director Li-Tang Chang said that Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology is a blue-chip university and its students have been the favorite of entrepreneurs. STUST board members come from many well-known companies, which offer students internships and employment opportunities.Now this advantage is coupled with such a cultural and creative industrial park in Tainan, making it able to branchinto the cultural and creative industry and thus provide students with more diverse learning and employment opportunities.

President Chien Tai of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology expressed special thanks in his speech to the support of the Ministry of Culture. He said that STUST would cherish this opportunityto participate in and witness the development of cultural and creative industry in Taiwan. He showed more thanks tothe STUST Board for leading the university to educational opportunities and cooperation with Tainan City government. All the resources were thus combined with the strong support of Mayor Lai and Director Yeh to jointly promote the development of cultural and creative industry for this city.

Meanwhile, Yi-Fung Wang, General manager of Tainan Cultural and Creative Industrial Park, said that the industrial park offers many DIY courses to enable people to experience and participate in the creation and production process, so that through consumers' own participation and interpretation, products can be given stories and memories and the park can become a place for creative life and aesthetic practice.
