Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Universite Paris XII, France cooperated in organizing the Summer Chinese Study Group. This event has lasted for four year, with a total of 52 Chinese students coming for the first three years to Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology study Chinese and experience Taiwanese culture. Through this activity, the friendship between the two universities has been greatly developed. This year a total of 31 French students came to participate in an 8-week Chinese study group.

The Chinese Language Center of Southern Taiwan University of Science planned a Chinese curriculum for the study group to experience Taiwan cultural, together with a cultural visit. The College of Business arranged a lot of business courses for commercial study, English intensive training, corporate visits, etc. allowing students to enhance their studies through diverse professional knowledge in business and to fortify their ability to understand the business in Taiwan against Taiwan's rich cultural backgrounds. There were arrangements of some partners, host family events and cultural intellectual trips to help students to enjoy their Chinese experience in authentic Taiwanese culture. It was hoped that such diverse curriculum and experience could help French students experience the strong human touch in the culture and history of Taiwan.

President Tai encouraged all the students to acquire more understanding of Taiwanese culture and experience Taiwanese cuisine. In particular, Taiwan City, the ancient capital of Tainan culture, which has a century building, special arts and humanities, and authentic traditional cuisine, would allow visitors from afar to have a feast of sight, smell and taste, along with in-depth experience in Tainan.
