  The Department of Visual Communication Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, led its students of Cultural Design Marketing Program to    2015/9/7    

 

The Department of Visual Communication Design, Southern Taiwan University of
Science and Technology, led its students of Cultural Design Marketing Program to
create academic-industrial cooperation in marketing with the Hai-An Road shopping
district and the city government.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology worked with Hai-An Road shopping district. The students of Cultural Design Marketing Program, led by Prof. Yi-Fu Chen of the Department of Visual Communication Design, worked to meet the marketing needs of Hai-An Road shopping district in Tainan, together with the government, the shopping district, and the district counselor (Shih San Yuei Cultural & Creative Integration Co.). The cooperation work successfully integrated Tainan City Government funding and the private sector sponsorship to into a program for cultural and creative goods. With its Creative Competition for Tainan City Hai-An Road shopping district—focused on "Lucky Cat"— they integrated the surrounding culture, art and business characteristics, thereby producing design cultural and creative goods and carrying out lighting arrangement for the district with their animation design. Their works will be on display and playback from September 23 to October 11, organized by the Tainan City Government Economic Development Board in the "Hai-An Road Lantern Festival."

The program’s cultural and creative merchandise contest presented the top three works, including 'Walk in Meow Village on Hai-An Road,""Cats Walking at the Zhun-Chin Street, "and" Hai-An Landscape—Hai-An Cat Cultural & Creative Street paper tape. “The first work, "Walk in Meow Village on Hai-An Road ," encompasses the creative thinking and painting elements and integrates in them the image of "Lucky Cat" brought out by the role of cat in the Hai-An Road district. Its characteristic style makes use of collage and constitutes the scene of the "Hai-An Road along the River." It is agreed that their presences will be the best outcome of students' creativity in commercialization.

In addition, the second work, "Cats Walking at the Zhun-Chin Street, " presents a black and white line illustration, highlighting the simple sense of the picture, the expression of cats’ relations with the street, and is division into four sections. The painting of the street was made into fashion canvas bag merchandise. The third work, " Hai-An Landscape—Hai-An Cat Cultural & Creative Street paper tape," brings for a combination of art and cultural assets made of hand-painted the street. At the same time, it was preferably chosen as the work by manufacturers and sponsored by a number of corporate sponsors to represent their products and foods.

In addition, Professor Yi-Fu Chen led the students of the Department of Visual Communication Design to hold investigations, workshops, lectures with a district consultant. Their efforts were particularly represented by the students' lighting arrangement "and" LightScribe Design," combined with the district’s culture, art and industrial elements to create beautiful lighting and increase streetscape and charm.

The lighting, light sculpture design, and lanterns design of the activities were all directed and arranged by Professor Yi-Fu Chen, supported by Jin-Sueo Huang, who graduated from the Department of Visual Communication Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and who now is the Director of "Time Gate Animation Company." Support also came from Director Chen-Fen Liu, who offered guidance in LightScribe animation design. Chairman Huaw-Chun Chang of the Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment gave direction to LightScribe projection technology.

【Commodity and products that obtained sponsorship by the Tourism Bureau in its "Southern District International Sports" Plan】

With the fruitful results of this activity and its showcase, The Tourism Bureau’s "Southern District International Spots" Plan is expected to make this series of cultural and creative goods produced by STUST the representative commodity to promote the Tainan City Center District tourism.
