"Friendly Taiwan - foreign student homestay development program" is full of goodwill: 26
students travelled to explore the beauty of Langshan in Chiku District.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, sponsored by the Ministry of Education organized "Friendly Taiwan - foreign student homestay development program," in cooperation with Longsan community in Chiku District, Tainan. There were 54 students sent by 19 universities in Taiwan, who came from 26 different countries, including the Czech Republic, Spain, Russia, Indonesia, India, France, Thailand, Paraguay, Saint Lucia, Nicaragua and who were taken by 24 Taiwan homestay families and led into the community to learn more about Taiwan's local culture.

The event program was specially arranged for foreign students to experience Tainan’s culture in fishing villages: the salty sea breeze, the hospitality of local community, and the "seafood feast" to entertain the students from afar. After a full ring of seafood, foreign students went in the seafood fields of the community, visiting local residents who were setting up oyster rack; they also visited Education Park, Art Alley, and more others. In trying to understand Chiku fishing culture, the international student felt particularly interested in the oyster farming process. Led by painter Ding- Yi Wang, there also experienced making their own black-faced spoonbill with light clay and oyster shells. In addition to responding to environmental conservation, the international students recognized the black-faced spoonbills have been beautiful visitors in Chiku, and they also praised the rich natural ecosystems in Taiwan.

In addition, international students also visited Longsan community. To its east there is agricultural and pastoral areas, to its west is a vast prestigious lagoon. There are also large areas of mangroves; Chiku Lagoon is the black-faced spoonbill habitat. The Ministry of Education "friendly Taiwan - foreign student homestay development program," international students came to experience activities organized from time to time with families and foreign students in Taiwan and have an interactive platform to enhance each other's feelings.
