Science and Technology, won both the first place and the third place in the 2015
National Chem-E-Car Competition

The 2015 National Chem-E-Car Race, organized by Ming Hsin University of Science and Technology and sponsored by Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineering, has seen its 14 years in Taiwan. The competition includes both poster competition and performance competition. In the intense competition, the team from Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology stood out of all the 46 teams from different universities in Taiwan and won the first place, the third place, and other prizes for great performance.

"STUST Chem-Team A +," directed by Prof. Ming-Ching Hsu of the Department of Chemistry and Materials Engineering has made great use of magnesium / copper battery power and by Mg / HCl power system. After several months of sleepless efforts and endlessly adjusting vehicle speed and various parameters, they finally won the fierce competition.

In addition, “Touchdown 20FF Team,” directed by Prof. Chang-Ning Huang, won the third place in the final. Team leader Chong-Ye Lee said they shaped the car as a horse and kept experimenting on how to control the power by different chemical materials. He also said that they needed to overcome the ups and downs of the uneven floor and took control of the ons and offs of power system, in order to achieve optimal speed and stopping distance.

"LOVE Cyndi LOVE” team, directed by Prof. Ming-Ching Hsu, won the first place of Great Car Performance. The other teams directed by Prof. Ming-Ching Hsu also had great performances. Both “Japanese War-god” and "Paopao Karting Team" also won prizes for their great performances in the competitions. President Tai said that STUST has been very supportive to students who participate in the National Chem-E-Car Competition. Every year STUST provides students with funds to do real training, and the Department of Chemistry and Materials sends teams to participate in the National Chem-E-Car Competition. In the National Chem-E-Car Competition this year, our teams won the first place and broke the previous records. To be sure, it was not to have such brilliant achievement.
