Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology is promoting inter-collegial
entrepreneurship: innovation & entrepreneurship and IQ Space Achievement Exhibition

With the rapid development of economic globalization, entrepreneurship has become a major force behind the vibrant economy, while young people have also begun to play major roles in social development. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology established a joint Innovation and Incubation Center in 2014, with IQ Space as its base in response to the government's attention and focus on youth entrepreneurship. In addition to providing working space for business workers, STUST also formed a sphere for border-crossing exchange to organized and manage activities for exchanges and dialogue activities. The purpose was to nurture more innovation and creativity and build up a community platform for co-workers, promoting inter-collegial innovation and entrepreneurship. Currently participating schools include National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences, Far Eastern University, Tainan University of Technology, Tung Fang Design Institute, Shu-Te University, Cheng Shiu University, National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism, and Kunshan University of Technology. STUST has been helping Tajen University and Fooyin University speed up the commercialization of the results of their research and development, continuing to strengthen the co-working and jointly promoting inter-collegial innovation and entrepreneurship.

In order to to enhance energy for counseling in the region, STUST sponsored, teachers, students, alumni, and young people interested in entrepreneurship with the grants of the Project for Developing the Model University of Science and Technology by the Ministry of Education. In addition to new equipment and comprehensive counseling mechanism, STUST offers these entrepreneurs timely provision of required resources, with one-stop services--from the technical to the financial--as its main goal on market integration. STUST is currently the best incubator in southern Taiwan for joint breeding. STUST has promoted entrepreneurship for the 6 years. This year, 24 high-quality teams were selected from among the 57 participating teams. 15 high-quality teams were through for another venture fund mechanism, with each team presented a venture capital fund of NT$50,000 for early start. Thanks to such promotion of entrepreneurship on campus, students and teachers have been immersed in entrepreneurial ethos. IQ Space currently has nurtured 14 teams, of which six teams have set up their companies. 4 teams are now stationed in STUST Incubation Center.

The IQ Space of Joint Innovation Incubation Center is working place to develop a quartet for entrepreneurs—inspiration, innovation, interaction, and integration—providing them with great preparation before their companies are officially established. Above the IQ Space, there is the core space for Joint Innovation Incubation Center to offer incubation counseling. IQ Space deliberately fosters teachers, students, alumni, and young people interested in entrepreneurship, with its focus now on cultural creativity, ICT, multimedia design, and innovative products and services.

Thanks to the counseling and cultivating of IQ Space, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and the inter-collegial team have seen a number of young entrepreneurs showing great achievements this year. Zhenshin Biomedical Team won the "2015 Rising Star Venture - Taipei Top Ten" after winning the "2015 Entrepreneurial Potential Award of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incentive Program sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology. STUST is now helping the team form a strategic venture and raise its fund from investors. Chloe Perfume & Shampoo has shown great performance in its online marketing, with its sales growing exponentially; Shantrong Design, with its 3D printing machine, was listed among the 16 finalists in the 2015 Ninth Dragon Smile Contest and also among the finalists in the 2015 Four Places along the Strait Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition; Gaden Innovation Co. obtained subsidy from the 2015 Cultural and Creative Industries Grants. In addition, to assist schools in the commercialization of research results and technology transfer, Coolwin Digital Technology Co. and Zunyi Visual Co. invited STUST to become their shareholders.

President Tai said that IQ Space provides energy and resource integration of inter-collegial tutoring for entrepreneurial teams to nurture new technology, new product development and operations. Then it enhances the competitiveness of SMEs, continuously promote close linking of industry-academia, and strengthens the vitality research and development southern Taiwan through its industrial innovation and industrial value. The technology specific to the industry's R & D results of the promotion has seen real implementation of industry-university standards and corporate-and-academic goals in such a win-win strategy
