Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won an Excellent Performance
Award in the 2015 Tainan City Bus Microfilm Competition

The Department of Transportation of Tainan City Government organized a microfilm competition to collect creative microfilms based on the theme of Tainan city bus. The department will use winners’ the excellent contribution to promote its city bus, which is thus expected to have a positive image. The competition was held In order to attract domestic and foreign tourists to visit Tainan and to promote the business opportunities and improve the use of public transport. The team from the Department of Information and Communication, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, directed by Prof. Wei-Jun Tai, won an Excellent Performance Award with their work Slowness.

Slowness was produced by Jia-Yi Lin and her team, against the background of an event happening in a city bus. The protagonist—Jake—comes from Washington to Taiwan to learn Chinese. Chances make him take the city bus, where he eventually feels the unique elements of life in Tainan: slow living and sweetness.

Jia-Yi Lin gave thanks to the judges of the Tainan City Bus Microfilm Competition for their recognition. Her-Tian Yeh, Chairman of the Department of Information and Communication also said that the department’s strength in making microfilms is greatly recognized and acknowledged by the city government as a result of the competition.
