【Overseas student couple Bao-Kang Lee and Mei-Ping Hsai won the 2015 Overseas Affairs Research Theses Awards】
Bao-Kang Lee and Mei-Ping Hsai both formerly taught at the Malaysian Independent Chinese Secondary School. In the year of 2013, both of their applications were approved by the Institute of Educational Leadership and Evaluation, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. In their pursuit of a master's degree, they often stayed at school dormitories, putting themselves wholeheartedly into learning and research and thus becoming academically excellent. Ever since the 2014 academic year onwards, the two had opted for Malaysian education as the main direction for their master's theses, and they invited Professor Jin-Tu Hsiao and Director Jia-Chiong Huang as their advisors. After about a year of research and writing papers, each of them passed their oral defenses and obtained a master's degree.
Thanks to their solid research methods, the excellent quality of their theses, and their relevancy to the topics given by Overseas Chinese Affairs, the two advisors recommended them to participate in 2015 Overseas Affairs Research Master Theses Award by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission. As a result, the couple won after they came all the way to Taiwan to study. It was the best gift for them and for their advisors at STUST.
