Department of Information and Communication, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won the Best Film Award in the "Tainan Bus Microfilm Making Contest"
The Department of Information and Communication, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won the Best Film Award with the work Walker in the "Tainan Bus Microfilm Making Contest," organized by the Department of Transportation of Tainan City Government. The purpose of this contest was to collect great films that could raise expectations for Tainan bus. With these creative micro-films, the government hoped to provide marketing strength for related topics, and the government could shape a positive image for Tainan bus and attract domestic and foreign tourists to visit Tainan, along with more business opportunities and improved public transport usage.

The winning film was made under the guidance of Prof. Lu-Ping Cheng of the Department of Information and Communication, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. The film describes the life of a foreigner Mirek in Tainan, who likes to observe things. He has traveled to other countries and cities before he found Tainan particularly like his hometown in Czech, with memory-loaded heritage buildings, humanity and culture, sights and landscapes. Starting with his meeting with a woman on the bus, he recounts the reasons why he is so in love with Tainan. The film develops its creative concept along with the growth of Tainan, compared with other cities. The differences in between are told by this foreigner, whether it is cultural retention, land maintenance, and showing of human touch, to highlight Tainan as an ancient capital and its appearance and style.

The film Walker anchors its focus on Tainan City Bus and describes all the things from the perspective of a foreigner. The narrative brings forth the difference between Tainan and other cities. Even though the traffic is getting more convenient, a bus can carry loads of feelings, just like Tainan city, taking with it all the memories of people while passing along. The film captures attractions in Tainan, allowing viewers to understand that, even if the time has come to pass, one can still catch a bus to Tainan and start a trip into memories of the past.

Director Chiang Wei Hsu said that, because he lived in the rural area in Baihe, Taiwan, at a young age and was raised up by his grandparents, who were farmers. When he grew up, due to their work, his parents moved to Taipei. Yet, he could not forget about Tainan as he was full of live for this piece of land. After his high school years, he decided to go to any university in South Taiwan. Thanks to his acquisition of filmmaking capability, he decided to show people his feelings for Tainan through those images presented in his film.
