Chinese New Year Gala Dinner for overseas students and Chinese students

The Lunar New Year is coming! In order to make overseas students and Chinese students feel the Lunar New Year atmosphere, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology held Chinese Spring Festival (worshipping the ancestors). Teachers and students got together for the dinner; overseas students and Chinese students, were also invited to celebrate the Lunar New Year in advance. Deputy President Chang, school executives, and more than 80 overseas students and Chinese students joined the party with joy and fun.

To make students remember their ancestors while they celebrate the Spring Festival, the activity opened with a ceremony to worship ancestors. Deputy President Chang said that Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has been supported by the Ministry of Education and greatly recognized by business communities and parents. As graduates are leaving the school after graduation, they have to cultivate their strength and ability to meet the diverse faces of international competition and to carry out a brilliant life. Chang also encouraged the undergraduate students to study hard and work seriously. He brought red envelopes to students and congratulated all the students with Happy New Year greetings.

Commissioner Chi–Ming Liu from on the Division of International and Cross-Strait Education, Ministry of Education, encouraged the students to study hard in his speech. He also said that STUST is surely taking care of overseas students studying in Taiwan and Chinese students as well. It was easy to see the love and care of STUST for students from the well-prepared meal for the Spring Festival gala party. All the students could feel the organizers’ intimate arrangements for them to participate in the party, giving them feelings of returning home on the eve of the Spring Festival in advance.

The Chinese New Year Gala dinner was hosted by a combination of overseas students and Chinese students. Many interesting things happened at the party because of the impact of different cultures and habits, adding a lot of fun to the activity. The dinner was also added by a lottery contest, hosted by Deputy President Chang, which was held for all the students and teachers to participate. A lot of them got great, exquisite gifts, and everyone was full of hope and happiness. Finally, at the end there were blessings with joy and hope for each, together with wishes for them to have safety and peace.
