Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology is the best partner for industries: STUST has been given an accumulated 429-million-NTD grant since 2012 by the Project for Developing the Model University of Science and Technology organized by the Ministry of Education
Ever since 2012 Ministry of Education held "Project for Developing the Model University of Science and Technology." Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology was eligible for selection as one of the six model University of Technology, and it was the only selected private University of Science and Technology. In 2013, STUST showed great performance, given acclaim by the Ministry of Education and allowed to continue its status as one of twelve model universities of science and technology. Since the effectiveness of the implementation plan was excellent, the Ministry of Education showed its reaffirmation and increased its grant to STUST for the Project for Developing the Model University of Science and Technology" year after year. The grant grew from 75 million in 2012 to 9.25 million this year, which is the maximum grant given to private universities. Over the years from 2012 to 2016, the amount of grant has accumulated up to 429.5 million, which is the greatest amount for private university and the fifth great amount for universities of science and technology of the country—a fact that shows the school's brightest performance in education.

Since the day it was founded, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has always positioned itself as "the best UST partner for industries." STUST’s technical and vocational education has been in line with the purpose of "diversity suitability" and "being practical and pragmatic." It has been entirely committed to "learning by doing" approach as a way to foster industry talent needed. After years of making its greatest efforts, STUST was finally unanimously endorsed by the industry. According to the survey results by Cheers Magazine, STUST has been the favorite university by owners of big businesses and industries for its great graduates since 1998 for seven consecutive years—a result of 3,000 votes. Ever since 2012, when the Ministry of Education began its "Project for Developing the Model University of Science and Technology organized by the Ministry of Education, " STUST has never stopped to promote the implementation of the work plan. It keeps actively shaping industry cooperation and its campus environment, strengthening its interaction with regional industries, and promoting a variety of personnel training programs for industries. It has been trying to strengthen the core of technology research and development, enhance the amount of co-production capacity for teachers, and shorten the gap between learning and doing on the part of students.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has shown great performances and affirmed by the Ministry of Education. The performances include the establishment of the university campus environment, the reform of school management System, the manufacturer matchmaking, project negotiations, contract reviews, intellectual property management, technology transfer and entrepreneurship, the Industry-University Research and innovation Incubator, and the improvement of operational efficiency.
The annual amount of industry cooperation grew to 104 companies, representing a growth of 189.14% before executing the plan, 10 times the granted amount. Its remarkable results also include linking industry needs to promote fit-type personnel training and enterprise training for specific professionals, such as cultivation of automation and technical personnel, aerospace certification personnel, medical equipment, and high-end design and development personnel; students were scheduled to internships and direct employment after graduation, with the purpose of increasing industry recognition.
Besides, STUST has put more collaborative efforts with industries to deepen the professional ethics education through 16 benchmark corporates. The companies provide a wealth of professional ethics related to teaching resources; by these typical case studies from industry, students can fully realize professional ethics and thus enhance their sense of self-accomplishment in terms of professional ethics.

For the Internationalization on campus, STUST has been doing a lot to enhance All-English teaching and teachers’ related knowledge and ability, promote international mobile force of students and overseas study and internships. STUST also focuses on five key areas of core technology research and development and promotes regional industrial upgrading and transformation, such as assisting Technology Industry Alliance for students and manufacturers to develop international marketing, working with well-known motorcycle industry to develop energy-efficient engines. In addition, in response to industry demand and enterprises, STUST also set up R & D centers to develop innovative technologies, such as Alzheimer's disease treatment, breakthrough key technologies for drug development, eye surgical positioning technology, supported by high amount of technology transfer contracts and effectively reduced R & D production costs.

In addition, STUST plans to build a model of industry-university linking structure, including multi-purpose practice facility, R & D results pilot production testing centers, Joint Innovation and Incubation Center Interscholastic League merchandise implement factories to provide space for research and development and implementation. For example, the IQ Space in the Joint Innovation Incubation Center is used to provide business counseling space for intercollegiate teachers and students for entrepreneurship, with 104 entrepreneurial teams from 14 colleges and 7 companies that have completed business registration. Through the promotion of strategic alliances, STUST has helped partner schools establish mechanisms to promote industry-university, university-industry performance orientation, and technology commercialization mechanisms.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology plans to cooperate with the government, with its priorities on promoting the policy of productivity 4.0, fostering cross-cutting integration of technical personnel, enhancing students’ continued ability of transnational movement, and elevating the international competitiveness of technical and vocational students. STUST will also continue to promote the industrialization of knowledge, understanding of industry needs, intellectual property management, technology transfer, and the commercialization of research results; it will also encourage teachers and students to create new research results, deepen professional ethics education, and strengthen industry-university link-building benefit.
