Men's and Women’s basketball teams of Southern Taiwan University of Science and
Technology won the fourth district championship of the 2015 College Basketball Tournament

Men's and Women’s basketball teams of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology participated in the 2015 College Basketball Tournament. In the fourth district (the southwest region), there were a total of 10 men's teams and 8 women’s teams. Starting from the preliminaries to the final victory, STUST teams had not lost any games. They finally won the championship for both groups and got to participate in the national finals.

Both teams were directed by coaches Hui-Rong Fu and Shu-Hua Gu, who had to make use of their spare time to make contributions and efforts to the teams. Since the team members are from various departments, students only have interest in basketball, playing it by virtue of enthusiasm rather than by any formal training. Therefore, the two coaches spared no effort at all. In addition to taking into account the skills of the players, the coaches had to help them improve their mental maturity, living conditions, and schoolwork in a painstaking manner. They always got along with the players during the training camp. Indeed, there is no easy way to success.

Thanks to the great training they had, both teams lost no game in the fourth district. It is worth mentioning that the men’s team, in the preliminaries, was almost beaten by National Cheng Kung University after they led all the way to the fourth quarter. The opponent soared by a few 3-pointers and almost caught up with STUST; fortunately, the coaches were able to control the situation and led the team to one- point win. It is remarkable that both teams of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology could be united by cohesion and made such great success.
