Congratulations to Min-Chong Liu, a brilliant alumnus of Southern Taiwan University
of Science and Technology, who became a successful entrepreneur after working
hard for three decades

Min-Chong Liu, a brilliant alumnus of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, is now the president of Wei Ming Machinery Co., Ltd. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Ming Wei Machinery Co. invited Qi-Chang Tsai, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Yuan, Magistrate Ming-Ku Wei of Changhua County, President Chien Tai of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and a great number of alumni to join the great gathering. More than 1,000 suppliers, customers, local people, and employees and their family gathered together in Ming Wei. President Tai and Chairman Ding-Hong Chen of STUST Alumni Center came to attend the meeting and congratulate President Liu, along with 70 alumni around the island to witness the grand ceremony of Liu’s company.

Min-Chong Liu started to thinking about having his own business when he was still studying at STUST. In 1986, he set up Ming Wei in Taiwan. Over the past three decades of hardworking, carefully planning, and the striving of all the staff, the company has constantly been offering better mechanical feeder than those in accordance with the business standard of Taiwan, in product research and innovation, production quality, and sales and services. In both 2000 and 2002, Ming Wei was awarded by the government the National Taiwan Excellence Award. Ming Wei is currently still the NO. 1 in paper machinery industry and the only company winning this award. In 2002, President Liu won the Model for Youth Entrepreneurs in Taiwan.

In his speech, President Liu said that for the three decades of Wei Ming, he wanted to thank all the customers, partners, and suppliers for having accompanied him through all the struggles together. He also showed his gratitude to his alma mater, which is surely the best private university of science and technology and which brought him the enlightenment for his business idea. President Tai said that the achievement of any alumnus is the best proof of the success of STUST’s education. He thanked President Liu for inviting him and other alumni to share his glory.

President Liu was invited by STUST on December 9, 2014 to come back to participate in the "Outstanding Alumni Micro-Film Premiere." With his own experience, he encouraged all the undergraduates to bravely make their entrepreneurial dreams come true. Even if one is faced with obstacles in his life, as Liu said, he has to turn sadness into love. Liu established Liu Yao Wei International Youth Foundation to help young people participate in voluntary activities, showing his continuous support to international communities. He also wrote his autobiography—Courage Is the Ladder to Success to recount his schooling and his entrepreneurial process and show a complete account of personal philosophy in business statement. It is a great example for aspiring young entrepreneurs as well valuable reference for all the undergraduates.
