Language learning needs experience with local language and culture. In order to learn the authentic language, about 20 students of Japanese Department at STUST would go to the Japanese sister schools of STUST for a short-term study. As many families are in living in a vulnerable environment, not every student has sufficient financial ability to study abroad. Ever since the beginning of 2014 school year, the department has been actively promoting the overseas internship. One after another business enterprise came to work the department, including Miyajima Hotel in Hiroshima and Kotohira Grand Hotel in Shikoku Kagawa Prefecture, both of which signed a memorandum of cooperation with the department to acquire 12-15 students every semester from the department for the internship. With their help, the Japanese Department provides these students not with only visa assistance but also their round-trip airfare. Students are now given a fixed placement (per month about NT$ 20-30 thousand). Students can both achieve their purpose of studying abroad and get aids in the economy.
