Congratulations! Professional Instructor Zhong-Long Shao of the Department of
Hospitality Management, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology,
won the 2016 National Model Worker of the Year as representative of chefs and was given acclaim by the President.

Congratulations! Professional Instructor Zhong-Long Shao of the Department of Hospitality Management, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won the 2016 National Model Worker of the Year as representative of chefs. He was greatly recommended by the National Federation of Trade Unions in Catering to the Occupational Labor Selection held by the Ministry of Labor. He was selected as a 2016 national model worker from more than 80,000 participants. He is the only award-winning chef among the models.

Professional Instructor Zhong-Long Shao has been working as a chef for more than 20 years. He is now teaching Chinese cuisine and creative dishes making courses at the Department of Hospitality Management, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. In addition to teaching and actively participating in the creative development and participation in various domestic and international cooking competitions, he won the Asian chefs Challenge International Championships, Manila Asian international Championship, International Asian Cuisine Competition, Banquet Chef in Asia Competition, and more than a dozen gold medals at home and abroad. He also won the International Cuisine in Japan Competition and thus invited by President Ma and repeatedly invited by television programs to show his art.

When he was invited to accept the presidential praise, the General Assembly required him to wear a suit, but he thought he should hold on to professional image and therefore insisted upon being dressed as a chef to accept the praise. President Ma specifically praised his being very distinctive and thereby saw him as greatly devoted and adherent to his professional identity.

As Shu-Yi Huang, Chairwoman of the Department of Hospitality Management Department at STUST said, the department, having been established nearly a decade, has invited a lot of professional instructors to give students great training. In addition to their participation in international tournament winners, they but also repeatedly train students to participate in various competitions--baking, luncheon, flair and many others. They have received numerous international awards over the past decade. Teachers of the department have been also licensed by the UK to teach cooking with their international educational certificates. Whether it comes to professional hospitality management training and education or hospitality skills and ability, the department is able to lead the students to meet the international trend and hospitality standards.
