2016 Solid Edge Design Contest: Southern Taiwan University of Science and
Technology won 7 prizes in its brilliant performance.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology held the 2016 Solid Edge Design Competition awards ceremony, with a total of 70 students and teachers from various colleges and universities and high school, hosted by Liang-Sien Yu, general manager of Cade Technology Co., Ltd. This is the third time for Solid Edge Design Contest to be held in Taiwan. This is also the second time Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Cade Co., Ltd. worked together in organizing such a national computer drawing contest. Competition is divided into two groups: high school group and college group. Participants were asked to demonstrate their outstanding skill and superb capability in drawing colorful graphics. Creative contest topics were included for two categories—"merchandise" and "organization"—that worked on the design for life energy-saving usually seen in merchandise or development of new smart devices. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology is the biggest winner, taking 7 prizes in the contest.

Cheng-Wei Wu from Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, under the guidance of Prof. Chia-Siang Su, showed excellent drawing skills and superb design ingenuity in his "Portable Pen Printer," winning the champion of the overall mixed group competition. In addition, Chao-Wen Chen from Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, also under the guidance of Prof. Chia-Siang Su, won the first place in college group with his "Life in A Functional Home," which showed his marvelous use of drawing software to maximize his excellent design skills. It should be noted that It is worth mentioning that the Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology became the biggest winner, taking 7 out of the 13 prizes in the contest. Prof. Chin-Tsun Hsai pointed out that drawing is to show the most important product innovation and one’s basic ability, and current use of computer graphics product design is one of the most effective tools on the side of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. It is in its capacity as one of the important core competencies and curriculum design, which attaches great importance to the training of graphics capabilities.

Over a hundred teams of students from high schools and colleges all over the country joined the contest. As a result, three in each group were selected by experts and scholars. Wei Chen from National Tseng-Wen Senior agriculture and Industrial Vocational High School, won first place of the high school group by his cute, superb 3D Flashlight. The second place was won by students from National Beimen Senior agriculture and Industrial Vocational High School. All the other award winning works could also show excellent drawing skills and a steady stream of creativity and ingenuity. The participating students from National Tseng-Wen Senior agriculture and Industrial Vocational High School had the best performances, winning a total of ten groups of works and awards. In addition, the students from National Beimen Senior agriculture and Industrial Vocational High School led several groups of students to receive acclaim with their superior and excellent works.
