Cheerleaders of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the 2016
National Cheerleading Championship—the "College Mixed Large Group" and "College Rookie Group Skills.”

Cheerleaders of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology participated in the 2016 National Cheerleading Championship, organized by the Taiwan Cheerleading Association of the Republic of China and held in Chinese Culture University in Taipei. With their brilliant performances, they won both the "College Mixed Large Group" and "College Rookie Group Skills.”

There were 8 different groups in the 2016 National Cheerleading Championship, a competition for two days for as many as180 teams nationwide. Teams enrolled in the tournament at the group of college needed to follow cheerleading scoring scale in their implementation of the actions and skills stability and degree of completion. The complete scoring scale contained: slogan (10%), partner skills (25%), pyramid (25%), basket dumping skill (15%), turning action (10%), fluency and the transitional process (5 points), the overall flow of content presentation, mass appeal and dance (10 points)—a total of 100 points. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the "College Mixed Large Group" and "College Rookie Group Skills.” the "College Mixed Large Group" and "College Rookie Group Skills.” Their brilliant performance greatly impressed all the judges.

Captain Cheng-Hung Jiang of cheerleader team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said that they are especially grateful to the support of the school and their coaches Meng-Chuan Chou and Tang-Hao Tsai. They are also grateful to their graduated seniors for their guidance. In May, they just attended the 2015 College Cheerleading Championship, organized by ROC Sports Federation and won the fifth in the mixed team group. The competition was held in the final week by the end of the semester; the players needed to properly use the time to strengthen their studies, while the need to arrange another time to participate in joint training was another challenge. Every night and every holiday they had to join intensive training. Both mentally and physically, players were faced with a great challenge to make positive efforts and admirable spirit. Even though they had to travel from Tainan to Chinese Culture University three o’clock in the morning on the competition day, they still showed enthusiasm during the competition. Their performance shocked the audience, with their slogans, uniforms, arm movements, and confident smiled. Their presentation skills and dances, supported by a powerful group of supportive friends to carry out their refueling mission, greatly impressed the judges.

The Cheerleader Club of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has entered its fifteenth year. It is one of the school’s clubs with a long history. Despite their early hardships, their members adhere to the team with great efforts and have been able to maintain brisk performances. More importantly, senior members who graduated can continue to love cheerleading activities. Through the coach's teachings and the help of their seniors, the enthusiasm and the positive efforts of everyone has been pushing them to practice and to make STUST Cheerleaders a glorious winner in various competitions.
