Congratulations! Student productions of Southern Taiwan University of Science and
Technology—Departure for Love and Chances from Tea—won the first and the
second prizes in the Third Film Festival of Ming University.

Two graduation feature productions—Departure for Love and Chances from Tea— directed by Prof. Lu Ping Zheng of the Department of Information and Communication, Southern Taiwan University of Science, won the Third Film Festival of Mingdow University. Life—to find the bright side of life—was the theme of the festival organized by the university. They won first place and the second place, standing out of all the entries that came not only from students of Taiwan also from those from Mingnan Normal University and Fuzhou Engineering School.

Departure for Love is a video production by the team INSANE, which describes the story of love, family life, and self-identity triggered by the unexpected death of a father. The lead female character of film, Pei-Shuan, lives in her pain deep inside as well in the fear of losing anyone again, due to her father’s death, which caught her in a situation where she always yields herself to her boyfriend in their relationship. Her mother Yun-Ping, who cannot get out of the blue and the grief of bereavement, locks herself in memories of the past years. The mother and daughter live together in pain, but they are able to support each other and encourage each other. Finally, they came to understand that they cannot have a new tomorrow if they cannot put down all the sorrow and pain.

Chances in Tea is a film by Lao Jiang Hu video production team, which describes the story of the protagonist Chin-Chong, who quit his permanent job in Taipei when his father experienced a pesticide poisoning accident and returns to Chiayi to take over the family's tea farm in Alishan. He tries to change the way the family used to plant tea leaves, but that only lead to his father's discontent. The father and son come into conflict and confrontation given the differences in their ideas. His close friends Jun-Ho and his girlfriend Yi-Jia give him full support, selflessly and persistently, becoming the source of his power and perseverance.
