Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the platinum award, four gold medals, one silver medal, and five bronze medals in the 2016 Taipei International Invention & Technology Fair

The 2016 Taipei International Invention & Technology Exchange Exhibition were held at the Taipei World Trade Center from September 29 to October 1, with nearly one thousand booths displaying 1,300 items of the latest inventions and patented technologies from 22 countries around the world, as well as. A great number of organizations and inventors came to Taiwan to participate in the exhibition, while Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology participated in the area of invention and competition. After a strict initial review by the highly recognized judges, STUST won the highest honor: a platinum award and 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 5 bronze awards.

【The Platinum Award winner: "Front-End Sensing Probe"】

The work developed by the team of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, directed by Chairman Chih-Liang Chu—"Front-End Sensing Probe"—was awarded the highest honor. The invention uses only three micro-pipes, but it broke through the long-existing bottleneck three-dimensional scanning probe designs. It also uses the probe front of the optical path to sense the shape of the surface changes on a work piece, so the probe will eliminate the deformation of the probe error, ensuring the accuracy of measurement and integration of self-developed ultra-precision optical 1D displacement and 2D angle sensing system. This is a successful design with low-cost and high-precision measurement. It also won the Gold Award of the 2016 Taiwan International Innovation and Design Competition.

【A gold medal winner: "Conductive film thickness detection device.】

Four works won gold medals. "Conductive Film Thickness Detection Device” was developed by Prof. Ker-Mo Lin of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Micro-spectrometers can be used to perform signal analysis for specific wavelength bands, which can effectively improve the measurement accuracy to nanometer level. It can be used to detect the thickness of the sample immediately and help the manufacturer to reduce the detection cost. The product won the 2015 i-ONE International Instrument Innovation Award and the 2016 Taiwan International Innovation Invention and Design Competition Silver Medal. In addition, "Blind Type Array of Micro-wind Power Generation Device applied to Intelligent Green Building Facade" was developed by Prof. Da-Hui Li of the Department of Electronic Engineering. The product comes with dual energy collection mode of self-sufficiency state, in order to achieve energy saving and carbon reduction purposes. Compared to the market in general large-scale green power generation devices, it can avoid the dilemma of high costs, set the regional issues. On the other hand, "Uterine Contraction Monitoring Device" was developed by Prof. Yi-Chun Du of the Department of Electronic Engineering. The system makes use of the globally utilized smart phones as the main monitoring system. With four positive force Judgment mechanism, this function can not only improve the measurement accuracy, but also allow pregnant women to wear when they can self-adjust to the best sensing position. The device was designed to sense the body surface, monitoring the uterine contractions of pregnant women. "Trans-illuminated Display Device for Vascular Imaging" was developed by Prof. Yi-Ran Hsu of the Department of Electronic Engineering, which provides a penetrating display method for blood vessel imaging, enabling clinicians to simultaneously observe the image of the needle-stick site and its vessels. It can be used to facilitate the search for blood vessels during injection, thereby enhancing the convenience and accuracy.

The silver medal winner was "Electric Stethoscope," developed by Prof. Chao-Huang Wei and Prof. Liang-Yu Tsai, who are experts in the field of electrical stethoscope. The products can display sound in a circular form by using electronic stethoscope; it can even display the waveforms in a more accurate manner. In addition to medical diagnosis, it can also be used for industrial, such as the detection of subtle noise engine or mechanical abnormal vibration. The five bronze-medal winners were "Clean and Image Processing Device for Driving Image Capture," "A Combined Microalgae / Probiotics Application Technology for Plant Growth and Soil Improvement," "Solar Module with Even Light," "Rear-view Mirror Device for Preventing Chasing Cars at Car Door," and "Method for Preparing Conductive and Acid-Co-Polyaniline Solution ".
