Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the 2016 All Ring Innovation and Creativity Contest": 1 Best Application Award, 2 Best Potential Awards, and 5 Excellent Performance Awards

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology participated in the 2016 All Ring Innovation and Creativity Contest, organized by All Ring Tech Co., LTD. There were 229 teams from 22 colleges and universities and 18 high schools in the competition, with only 134 teams entering the final. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology was highly appraised and eventually won 1 Best Application Award, 2 Best Potential Awards, and 5 Excellent Performance Awards

【Best Application Award: Nano-positioning Platform with Optical Measurement Error Compensation.】

The purpose of the 2016 All Ring Innovation and Creativity Contest is to enhance students’ professional and innovative abilities, stimulate their creative potential, develop robot-related creative applications, and enhance students' creativity and patent application interests. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology was awarded the Best Application Award with its "Nano-positioning Platform with Optical Measurement Error Compensation," a work invented by the team of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and directed by Professor Chih-Liang Chu. The work was developed with low-cost but given high-precision, as it integrated self-developed 5-DOF nano-positioning platform and 5-DOF measurement system. It can be directly installed in a machine with linear tool motion platform, where the measurement system detects errors and immediately employs the nanometer positioning platform compensation tool and machine linear motion platform. It greatly improves the positioning accuracy. The work meets the practical needs of the industry and will help improve the machine tool products in the international market.

【Best Potential Award for Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology: ”Linear Metal 3D Printer,” and “Multi-Functional Oil Filer”: Team members】

The two works that won the Best Potential Award are "Linear Metal 3D Printer" and "Multifunctional Oil Filer." The 3D printer was developed by Mechanical Engineering Department. The team developed a line of 3D printers different from the traditional printing methods, using 100um metal thin line with the laser on the metal substrate to produce molten pool, where the wire melting accumulation is directly to the metal wire. The product comes with wire storage that is relatively simple, without the need to have a recycling system and high material utilization, significantly reducing manufacturing costs and enhancing environmental protection. The product comes also with a 100μm diameter wire, which can make small products processing. On the other hand, the multi-functional oil filter was developed by the Mechanical Engineering Department and the Department of Business Management. The product comes with porous magnetic colloidal filter, featuring the use of magnetic filter with fine iron; it can be directly recycled when the filter is replaced. The removable structure can be quickly replaced, while the vortex vanes increase the flow rate. The spare pipeline can help avoid from the internal pipeline obstruction. It is environmental friendly and convenient and can be widely used in CNC machine.

【Best Potential Award: Linear Metal 3D Printer】

In addition, five pieces of award-winning masterpieces include "Pen-type Oral Mirror with Softness and Softness," "The Guardian Angel of Vehicle Driver, " "Smart Helmet," "Insole Pressure Sensing Platform," and "Scalp Scaler Detection and Management System with Scalp State Recognition."

【Best Potential Award: Multifunctional Oil Filter】

President Chien Tai of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said that the three categories of creative activities can encourage students to play creative ideas as the starting point for innovation and service innovation on campus.
