Zeelandia entrepreneurial team of South Taiwan University of Science and Technology had a double win in the 2016 Golden Pin Design Award

"Shamans Matheson" entrepreneurial team, directed by Prof. Yia-Jin Lin and Prof. Wei-Jan Yang, had a double win in the 2016 Golden Pin Design Award, organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The two works—"Clever Cut" and "Spinning Hanger"—stood out from 3,005 works from Taiwan, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and Switzerland. "Clever Cut" focuses on the use of cutting boards in Chinese food. The frequency of using chopping boards is high, and the aging society in Chinese society is becoming more and more serious. Elderly people need a cutting board that is better, safer, and more versatile. In the course of the dealing with meals, “Clever Cut” can prevent the ball-shaped fruit and vegetable from rolling; cutting tools are taken care of with safe placement of multi-functional design, effectively solving the cooking process that often involves problems. "Clever Cut" has won the "Red Point Concept Design" and "Golden Pin Concept Design", and the team is now working on commercializing conceptual design production, which is now available in the UK.

Another Gold Point Design Award went to “Spinning Hanger,” which came from the important concept of "Tai Chi" in Chinese thought. "Spinning Hanger" has won a Macao International Innovative Invention Exhibition Bronze Award. It has also been commercialized.

Zeelandia team was formed as a professional team for cross-disciplinary students, led by Professor Lin and Professor Yang. In April 2014, Zeelandia Cultural & Creative Studio was established by all the members who were still studying at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. It was marvelous that they were able to start their own business smoothly and continue to operate smoothly. As Team Leader Choa-Lun Lee said, “We would like to thank Professor Tai for promoting innovation and creativity. The school also encourages students to break the walls between departments and develop cross-departmental teams.
