Ancient Mechanical Science and Technology.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology set up the Museum of Ancient Mechanical Science and Technology. The opening ceremony was held on the 8th of December. Southern University of Science and Technology is committed to promoting the new development of ancient mechanical and cultural innovation. This year, combining the achievements of ancient mechanical restoration, engineering, design, digital and communication, STUST expanded the ancient machinery development to digital media science education and cultural product design. As a standing exhibition hall of ancient machinery, the newly built Life Sustaining Building of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology is not only a production base but also an experimental base for science education.

The museum is equipped with Exhibition of China Wood Construction by Si-Cheng Liang and Ancient Astronomical Chronometers, together with Science Education Center and Curatorial Center. It is an Integration of school teachers and students that works on the interdisciplinary cooperation among a number of institutions, the formation of the ancient mechanical research and development team, the systematic development of all education, research, performance, collection, entertainment, and other functions of the ancient machinery, including digital audio video materials, Innovative and practical ancient mechanical, and cultural products. Professor Chong-Yi Lin and Professor Wei-Yi Huang drew their idea from the ancient lock of China, gave it re-transformation and innovation, and developed one that is suitable for girls to wear jewelry. The museum is not only a retrospective one, but also a further innovation and research and development.

President Chien Tai said that in 1994 Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has already seen the establishment of the Center of Ancient Machinery, which has focused on the development of science and education and tried to enable students through practice and deepen the study of the institutions of learning. The recovery of the ancient machinery is an unique one not only in Taiwan but also in the world. There are many institutions negotiating the procurement of ancient machinery as large public work of art cooperation. In addition, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and the Hong Kong Rodan Tianshi International Company are having talks for production and cooperation, trying to work on the production of ancient machinery restoration. In the future there will be a world exhibition as well as publication of ancient machinery.

At the same time, Chi-Dong Du wrote the inscription for the Museum of Ancient Mechanical Science and Technology, matching the historical calligraphy with the Museum of Ancient Machinery and showing the Chinese precious meaning of culture and art. In the next five years, the Museum of Ancient Mechanical Science and Technology will systematize, complete, and commercialize the three major ancient mechanical series, including the ancient "astronomical and timing instruments", "power machinery" and "measuring cross and measuring tools." It will also systematically efficiently promote popular science education.
