Congratulations! STUST’s film production One Egg to Hell won both DC6 Asia Taiwan
Gold Award and DC6 Asia Next Generation Award in the 18th TBS Digicon6 Asia Short Film Competition.

The 3D Animation One Egg to Hell and 2D Animation OCA1, produced by Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science and Department of Visual Communication Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won both Asia Taiwan Gold Award and Asia Next Generation Award in the 18th TBS Digicon6 Asia Short Film Competition. More than 1,000 entries from around the world, including teams from Japan, Taiwan, China, Korea, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, are invited to participate in this competition. To enter the final in Japan, the two films went through fierce competitions. It was not easy to get the gold medal in Taiwan and the General Assembly New Generation Award.

One Egg to Hell, winner of DC6 Asia Taiwan Gold, was produced by the student team of the Department of Visual Communication Design and directed by Prof. Tsai-Yun Mou. The story features a black and a white ghost and an ordinary man in a humorous, funny setting that reflects the anxiety of young people when they first come into the society or even after they have been through long-term social experience. Director Bin-Hua Hsu expects that each graduate can find his or her way out of the life journey after they graduate, continue to make efforts, and do not be afraid of failure. In the domestic competition, One Egg to Hell has won the silver medal in the 2016 Award of Animation Category and many awards in other important competitions. It has also been a finalist in a number of international competitions, such as Barcelona Film Festival, Holly County Gler Cultural Heritage Festival in the US, Pakistan Lahore International Children's Film Festival, the United States California Wilderness Film Festival, etc.

In addition, the 2D animation OCA1 of the Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science are co-authored by Chu-Lang Jan and Yu-Han Pan. They discuss issues of superstition, color differences, and self-identity, trying to indicate and reflect upon social phenomena with their animation work. They won DC6 Asia Next Generation as well as a prize money of NT$ 100,000. STUST has spared no efforts in fostering students' creativity, according to President Chien Tai, that the school has received the highest subsidy from the Ministry of Education in recent years, and the Department of Visual Communication Design has invited well-known tutors to co-teach the lectures and lectures. The implementation of the past few years has produced quite good results, which shows that industry-academia can meet the needs of the industry to cultivate talents.
